Did you even watch the post match? Serena was very gracious to the point of making sure that the crowd recognized Naomi’s win and not boo anymore. Stop making up stuff that didn’t happen. |
I can imagine how uncomfortable it would feel winning under these circumstances. You'd always be questioning the win and wondering if other people might be questioning it. It would have been better if they'd been allowed to play all the way through. |
Unfortunately I agree. Serena’s too great a champion for those tactics. I was sure Naomi would crack but she didn’t. Impressive mental game as well as physical. |
| It looks like to me that Serena is a bad sport and ruined the atmosphere of winning the game for another athlete. She should apologize to Naomi and learn how to loose. |

Man here. Interesting how some of you don’t care at all how women are treated differently than men in tennis. I guess that’s why women will never get the respect that men do.
Carry on with your petty comments about Serena and stop complaining about double standards in your own lives. |
| Serena knew she was losing and made a big scene about the umpire. The umpire just follows rules and applied them. If Serena was so great she would have just smiled and taken the warning in her stride but she chose to bully the umpire. Her "Don't you know who I am" attitude has been around forever. People who support her are just ignorant. |
Just admit it. You didn’t even see the match and you don’t follow tennis at all. |
Gracious my ass. Saying a couple of nice words doesn't change how she behaved. I bet she won't apologize to Naomi for ruining her moment. Self centered b***** |
|
The umpire called a coaching violation that ALWAYS happens; but NEVER enforced (until today, by chance).
Serena cries foul and unfair; the classic American-styled pearl-clutching ensues. Usual suspect. No one's up-in-arms when Serena's "randomly selected" to provide pee samples more than any other player. But this is all about Serena being a bully, overly emotional, and unprofessional. And of course, there are no undertone issues with your reactions to Serena's actions today; she just doesn't behave as we expect. Right? Right. |
All of the women’s tennis players support the Williams sisters. They are the sole reason why their winners checks are over $3 million and equal to the men’s. They have done wonders for the women’s tennis game. |
You again? |
| Did any of you posting watch the actual match, Serena’s speech at the awards ceremony, the commentators and Serena’s answers to the reporters. She was so classy at the ceremony and wanted the focus to be on Naomi. She was hugging and reassuring her when the crowd was booing. She told the crowd to stop booing and remember that this is Naomi’s first grand slam. The commentators all said that she she should have gotten a warning instead of a game penalty since she likely didn’t realize that would be the result. They also agreed with her that men have done much worse and not gotten a penalty like this. One of the reporters asked her how she would explain this to her daughter when she’s older and Serena said that she doubted she would have to explain something that happened on some date in 2018 and the reporter said oh I think you will. How rude! Serena explained her position very well and said that even if it didn’t work out for her, maybe the next person (ie woman) won’t face the same consequence. She also said that the umpire has always been a good umpire. She did talk about how well Naomi played and knew she was outplayed. She just wanted a fair shot. |
Yes I watched the entire post match coverage. Serena said that Osaka played “well” which was just absurd. Serena got her ass nicked and she couldn’t acknowledge that she was outplayed in every facet of the game? Her feeble “don’t boo” nonsense was pathetic. |
You’re too stupid to bother responding to. |
Exactly. |
