Do you think Range Rovers are tacky?

Anonymous
Paris Hilton used to drive one about ten years ago.

I always thought of them as the “Rich Man’s” ride.

I would drive one if I had the means to do so, it would be all-white w/the RANGE ROVER letters all in my favorite color - Pink!!

(Ahhh.....A girl can surely dream, right??!)

I imagine most of you have never been in a Range Rover or driven one?

They are insanely comfortable and luxurious inside and can be high powered cars. You are getting your money's worth (leaving aside the issue of reliability).

I don't particularly like Range Rovers but if you are a rich person who can buy the car without even thinking about affordability, it's ticks most of the boxes. And those are who usually buy the Range Rovers.

They are not tacky cars, they are a rich man's car. They are driven by the subtle rich just as much as the ostentatious rich.

They are gas guzzlers. The Hummers of the Trump era.

I think the entire point of this thread is they are more and more driven by the ostentatious rich and those who want to appear rich. Previously they were a bit more subtle but have been growing in popularity for quite awhile now.

So they’re worth the money except for being unreliable? Sounds like a practical vehicle for smart people!

I think they’re far more often driven by people who finance and lease them at stupid payment levels than “rich people” who buy things “without even thinking about affordability.”

Range Rovers are the *only thing* even more obnoxious than a Cadillac Escalade.

People were claiming RRs were tacky and ostentatious 25 years ago. Things really haven't changed. Go out to the Hamptons or Palm Beach you'll see plenty of Range Rovers. They are a rich man's car. Just because "newcomers" or there merely working rich are buying them doesn't escape this simple fact.

I think this is pure speculation and not grounded in reality or said by anyone who's spent any time in a rich man's playground like the Hamptons or parts of Florida or particular areas of LA. I'm sure there are people leasing them who really can't afford the car (or who shouldn't buy them) but it doesn't escape that it's still a very popular car among the very rich.

The engines catch on fire, have short ranges and often use fossil fuel to recharge. Build quality also very flimsy and cheap, though the design is nice.

Range Rover can be over the top but cars are still built in UK, not India, and come with a five year warranty.

Drivers of either car can emit a tragic sense of keeping up with the jones.

Are you the person who posts on every thread about Teslas that they are charged with fossil fuels? You do realize people can use wind energy to power their homes and chargers, right? And that even if some of the Tesla superchargers are powered by coal, they're still better for the environment than gas-powered cars (especially guzzlers like the RR)?

Why don't all of you Honda and Toyota owners start a super thread where you can bash all of the cars you hate and think are wastes of money, and then have Jeff sticky it for you?

Interesting that someone suggested getting that Mercedes in this thread when just a couple of weeks ago, there was a thread bashing Mercedes and Mercedes owners for being stupid and new money.

Because according to DCUM you should not spend money on anything except education. Everything else is waste and show off and low class.
But mostly low class.
Class.
It's all about class here.

I would get it if it's 4x4 and fits my price range, but it cost more than I want to spend.
