My dog groomer just rescued another pit bull

NP and a Chihuahua bite doesn't have the same force behind it that a 50lb pit bull bite does.

German shepards can kill but rarely do in comparison to pitbulls.

On my post that was deleted, there are around 15 dog deaths so far in 2018 (I forgot the exact number but can look it up later).

Of those deaths, one of the dogs was a German shepard. One of those dogs was a wolf hybrid. The rest were pitbulls.

Also, you say in your post that German shepard "can kill" too.

Of course. All dogs can kill depending on the size of their victims.

But I would assume (correct me if I am wrong) that you recognize the size, strength and potential for harm of your GS dog, and take proper precautions, including never proudly boasting "But his breed is so gentle and not dangerous at all"

Many pitbull owners have bought into the lies and propaganda of the pitbull advocates, and for whatever reason refuse to acknowledge their dog breed's proven potential to maim and kill adults, children and other animals if or when they attack. They proudly proclaim "Pitbulls are nanny dogs" as they snap pictures of their toddlers climbing all over them. They announce "She is such a lover" as they let their pitbulls run around unleashed. They tell their neighbors "You only need to worry about him licking you to death" as they strain to hold onto their pitbull's collar.

The statistics are crystal clear that pitbulls are a very dangerous animal breed, far more dangerous than any other breed on the planet.

If pitbulls owners would behave like the owners of rotts, GSs, dobermans and other aggressive breed, acknowledge how dangerous this breed of dog is to humans and other animals including dogs, and quit trying to pass them off as being gentle, nanny dog family pets, then perhaps there would be a little less resistance from sane people towards this dangerous and aggressive breed.

Yes, a pitbull won't kill, maim or dog extreme bodily if no one pulls his trigger, but neither will a semi automatic weapon. The problem is when that trigger gets pulled on a pitbull, the harm to the victim is unspeakable and makes other dog bites look like a fingernail scratch.

+1 So true. Our friends with some of the breeds you mentioned have trained their dogs well but keep a very close watch and do not pretend that they're as gentle as a beagle. We have a rescue lab mix (mostly lab, per our vet), but we don't leave small kids unattended with her.

The breed.

Pitbulls kill more dogs, cats and horses than all the other breeds combined.

Pitbulls also maim, kill, disfigure and dismember more humans than all the other breeds combined.

OP, find another breeder. You will never forgive yourself when one of these pitbulls kills your dog.

Once a person crosses into pitbull rescue craziness, you can no longer trust their judgment. They cease to be dog and animal lovers at that point.

Please provide reference articles from reputable sources hat pit bulls are maiming and killing other animals.

I trust that my beloved bearded collie breed has maimed enough cows and sheep in their time, as they are a herding breed. Oh but wait.. o one would consider it a problem because it’s their “job”?

Oh and those cute terriers who are supposed to flush out rats and groundhogs and kill them certainly haven’t killed more animals, because it’s their JOB.

Statistically, if OPs toy dog is a chihuahua, there is iadtually a significantly higher chance that it will bite, even in comparison to the pit bull.

https://www.caninejournal.com/dog-bite-statistics/

You also realize that “pit bull” is a high number of breeds they muddle together, so the statistic looks higher?

The stupidity is strong with this one.

Pitbulls are responsible for over 60% of all maiming, dismemberment and deaths cause by dog bites.

This is indisputable fact.

Pitbulls kill multiple other animals including livestock and other dogs on a regular, daily basis. This is fact.

Acting like pitbulls are perfectly safe animals and safer than ankle biter breeds is ridiculous and quite frankly, anti dog.

It's also very concerning that some pitbull advocates seem to care more about protecting the image of pitbulls and pitbull mixes than they do about the safety of innocent children and babies who get mauled, maimed and/or killed.

A beagle? Gentle? Puh-lease. Look, no one should leave any dog alone with small children. It gives me the creeps to see any video online where a dog has its face near a small child's face. Doesn't matter whether it's a pit or a chihuahua. You never know when a dog is going to lose it. My pit mix is a lover but I watch her carefully and never let children get in her face. Like you, pp, I'd do the same with a lab mix.

Approximately 60,000 beagles were used in medical research in 2010 alone--for a reason. They have very trusting, gentle dispositions.

But she kept her in a contained area and the pit bull was old and tired. Now she has rescued another pitbull. I have to find another groomer. I can't relax bringing my toy breed dog to her salon, knowing her pit bull will be there.

Too bad you're so narrow-minded. Pitties are big sweethearts. I know many.

Find another groomer. Buh-bye.

Wait...

Are there millions of pit bulls?

Or are pit bulls such a small group of dogs that other breeds are constantly being mislabeled as pitbulls??

Which one is it?

It doesn't matter because pitbulls are what, around 10% of dogs, yet they account for almost 70% of all dog bite deaths and most dog bite maimings?

This is by very conservative estimates.

You still fail to understand any maiming by dog is incredibly rare, far less than even one percent of pit bull mixes. Your fear is not reasonable.

And you fail to understand that pitbulls are a truly dangerous breed and should be neutered into non existence.

Statistics fail. It must be hard going through life so fearful, maybe work on the root cause.

Pitbull advocates use the same argument that semi automatic weapon advocates use.
