IS PTSD a real thing when it comes to being around In-Laws?

If your in laws are as bad as you indicate, screaming etc, I'd worry about exposing your kids to them.

I agree. I grew up with abuse. There's no way I'd allow my kids to be in the environment you describe. DH can go by himself. The kids and I would create our own traditions.
