Fear and anger. Fuels Trump’s base

And if I do *one* thing wrong in running my business I am going to jail! Hillary keeps a server in her basement and gets off, but if I fill out one employment form wrong I will go to jail!" This is what I hear a lot.

No anger, little resentment. "I didn't work all that hard, I just sort of followed along on the UMC path. African American communities are pretty messed up, but I don't spend much time there. I'm not blamed or demonized. I'm pretty rich but I'm not aware of anyone demonizing me. We didn't work all that hard! I didn't build a business or create jobs for people, but I'm top 2%. And if I did *one* thing wrong in running my business (which I don't have) I would not go to jail! Hillary keeps a server in her basement and gets off, and I don't really care. But if I fill out one employment form wrong I will not go to jail!" This is what I say a lot.

Let's see. Who looks fearful and angry? Who is threatening and frenzied? Hmmm....

Yes, and that's why the left keeps making comparisons to Hitler. It's insulting to the memory of the murdered and the nightmares of the survivors. And all it is is a Democratic campaign strategy - to scare the crap out of minorities so they'll go to the polls. Turnout is key to a Democratic win, and fear is a great motivator. And it's basically all they have.

So yes, OP...I agree with fear and anger, but it's the fear being generated from the left. And as far as anger, have you read this forum? The hateful accusations against anyone who dared not vote for Hillary is on a level I've never seen before (and I'm 60).

Your memory must be failing you.

And yet another meaningless comeback from a liberal. You can't argue the point, in other words. So typical.

Nothing you wrote indicated a “point.” Nothing. The idea that leftist campaigns are fearAbased is ludicrous. The write up is from The Nation, but the study is conducted by a neutral group. Net-net, voters driven by fear lean hard right.

Oh please. NP. How do you explain all of these ridiculous marches? They’re made up of people who are afraid. When Trump was elected, all we heard was how “frightened” liberals were - so they marched. Same with the women’s march. People are convincing themselves they should be afraid. Or rather, liberals have already convinced themselves and are furiously trying to brainwash everyone else. I consider myself a right-leaning moderate and can’t, for the life of me, understand what all this leftist fear is. But I do know I, and many others, have outrage fatigue. I tune you people out.

I agree. I think OP, and some others here, are projecting.

I’m constantly amazed at the depths of liberal angst. Just take a look at this forum! One thread after another about how we should all be quaking in our boots... for some mysterious reason. It’s actually kind of amusing. Liberals are some of the most fearful people I know.

Yes, it's undeniable. Think about the origins of the word.

Or consult the dictionary:

conserve -- to seek to protect something from harm or destruction.

They r fraidy cats alright. Afraid of crime, immgrants, gay people, terrorists, flouridation, etc. conservatives love to act tough but inside of that hard outer shell is quivering jello.

I think you mean “fluoridation”? How silly. As for crime and terrorists, I’m a lot less afraid now that we have a president who is actively trying to keep this country safe. Gay people? My brother is gay and I love him very much. Why would I be afraid of gay people? And I also love immigrants - at least, those who follow our laws and are here legally.

You certainly have some odd concepts about conservatives!

DP, but seriously? Nothing of substance to add to the PP’s very well-articulated argument? S/he is absolutely right. Fear mongering is the left’s stock and trade. The constant outrage and hyperbole? It’s all designed to whip the base (liberals) into a frenzy of fear and manipulate minorities into feeling some unnamed fear - all in the hopes of getting poor people out to the polls to vote for the Democrats. And if you dare have a mind of your own and vote for a Republican? According to these morons, you’re Hitler incarnate. It sounds like something out of a Mel Brooks satire... until you realize this is actually happening.

It’s all designed to whip the base (conservatives) into a frenzy of fear and manipulate lower-middle-class whites into feeling some unnamed fear - all in the hopes of getting people named (or who know someone named) Wayne out to the polls to vote for the Republicans. It sounds like something out of The Handmaid's Tale... until you realize this is actually happening.

I see not only do you have difficulty formatting, but you’re not original or creative enough to come up with your own words (or thoughts). No worries! You so beautifully illustrated the liberal mindset: follow like sheep.

You want to lump mainstream Republicans in with white supremacists? Then, yes. You deserve to be lumped in with Antifa, dolt.

The party of peace and tolerance is above using fear to motivate its base.

Hence the left has never declared that the GOP was waging a war on women, used crises to advocate for gun control, or used fear of racist whites to rile up its base.

Nor have leftists ever marched in the streets to protest against any of these fears, despite my lying eyes.

Never, ever.

Not once.

Ever.

You're proving OP's point. You’re conservative, and you’re terrified of the world and you assume that everyone else is, too, therefore all the pictures of all the people you’ve seen marching around the world must be doing so in fear. You’re fundamentally missing the point because of your fear.

But liberals and other patriotic Americans aren’t marching out of fear. We march to show solidarity, to show Trump and the GOP cronies that we're not a minority, we're not going to sit idly by while they violate the law and social norms. We march to inform, to be of a group. It's not fear based. It's strength based. It's peace based. Best wishes.
