"Downtown" McLean closures

The combination of Balducci's and the Gourmet Giant is fine. There's not enough space in that location for a Whole Foods. There are already WFs in Vienna and Falls Church if you really want to go there.

There is no Gourmet Giant. It's a normal Giant, although a big one. There used to be a Gourmet Giant across the street from the regular Giant, where the Total Wine is.

Nobody was talking about the open one. There used to be two, we'd all like to know what is going to happen to the empty building that used to house the other one. It's been empty for....8 yrs?

Who needs two McDonald's on the same street? Some nursery or florist seems to be using part of that space now.

That's not the point either. And the nursery is using the parking lot--they used a different parking lot before. Most of the people who live in McLean would like a restaurant of some sort in there. Dunkin' Donuts, for all I care, just something.

You could always waddle down to Sweetbites and patronize another local business.

Gourmet Giant? McLean tried that for years, and it was constantly empty (it was located where ABC is now situated). That, and Balducci's used to be a Fresh Fields (similar to Whole Foods), no? I don't know, if you ever consider plastic surgery, a quick trip to Balducci's will talk you out of it fast, so there's that. And don't worry, the drivers at Balducci's are equally as incompetent as the drivers at Whole Foods, so there are enough parallels.

I'm just talking about the large Giant on Chain Bridge.

You sound a little unhinged, so I'd focus on the mental health issues first before considering plastic surgery.

You are so original. Laugh a minute.

Everything is in Tysons, not McLean.

The choices in McLean are abysmal. The Chesterbrook Safeway is closest to me and obviously awful. Balducci’s is overpriced and it isn’t even organic, just expensive regular food. I’d love a Mom’s in that location. I’m not surprised Sweetgreen closed, it was always empty. Joe’s burgers went downhill once they started getting too cheap to buy good meat from the organic butcher next door. I could go on but it’s pathetic in an area with so much wealth.

The Giant and Balducci have a decent selection. Safeway doesn't but it's relatively cheap.

Happy enough with the restaurant offerings. Ex: Kazan's, Greek Taverna, Assaggi, Pasa Thai, Capri, Cafe Oggi, Tachibana, Miyagi, J. Gilbert's, Pulcinella's, Amoo's, Ichiban, Dal Grano, Mylos, Masala, El Tio, Lost Dog, Sweet Leaf, Madison Deli, Santini's, Rocco's, McLean Pizza, MFR, Moby Dick, Red Tomato, Subway, Chipotle, Cava, McDonalds. Plus Tysons, Vienna and Falls Church are nearby w/more.

McLean has the most expensive homes, the top schools, the best location. It wouldn't be fair to corner the market on all the best restaurants as well.
