Managable Jobs? Do tell.

Waiting on tables. You can take off as much time as you want. Best part is that since you make so little, you don't even notice that you have been on vacation and haven't made any money. I've yet to go to work this year.
I get to be with my kids too. I go to work to escape them. DH watches them on weekends when I work.

I do marketing and comms for a nonprofit and don't have typically crazy hours. It's busy but not usually insane. The key is being in an environment and issue area where you are less likely to be dealing with crisis situations and media.

I'm a Gs-13 federal gvt employee working for the Defense Dept in asset management. I work 8:00 am -4:30 pm with one day of telework a week. I have a flexible work schedule where I can start any time between 6:00 am - 9:00 am and do my 8 hours. If I'm on vacation, I am not expected to check in. The only way I'm available after hours is if my dept head authorized overtime prior to doing it. Our agency is very strict about not doing work during off hours or weekends without prior authorization although if you get it approved you can do the overtime by telework. Having said that, it's rare that I have to do that. It happens maybe once or twice a year.
