| I would love to find a legal job that I can work 10am to 4pm with no overtime and make $90K-$120K. Does this exist???? |
I have friends who are fed attorneys who I think work those hours and are GS-14s, so they pull in salaries in the range you cited. They can also work at least 2 days/week from home. |
sorry but no fed attorney only works 10-4. Maybe 8-4:30pm. |
That would require a GS 15 salary in a part time or job share position. Does that ever happen? Usually those are supervisory, right? |
Now that I think about it, one of them is a supervisor, I believe. The other one is a lawyer for the NLRB and isn't in a supervisory role, I don't think. |
Very strange. Usually agencies don’t allow part time b/c it sacrifices a FTE spot to that part time position, and when they leave you don’t get bumped up to FTE funding — stuck with part time position that may or may not work for many people. |
It's not a part time position -- he works full-time for the NLRB, but only works in the office 3 days a week. The other two days he works from home. |

I'm a Historic Preservation planner with a local/state government agency. They are strict about us taking leave but we have flexible schedules, telework, good benefits.
I've been here 4+ years and enjoy it, but sometimes its a little boring. I make $85k a year, annual raises and COL increases. |
Sorry, though let you were describing the 10am-4pm work schedule! 2 telework days is great and not all that uncommon Would like jobs like on west coast where it’s very flexible, so telework 2 hours before kids wake, having morning with kids, work in office like 10-4, and then another hour after kids are asleep. Though it is unclear to me if their hours are limited to 40 per week... |

Fed analyst here. At my agency we are not allowed to work weekends at all or after 7 pm without supervisory permission. Only once in 10 years have I requested to work past 7 (and even then the latest allowed is 9 pm) and I’ve only been asked / allowed to work weekends 2-3 times.
Two years ago I went part time (one day a week off) and I telework a few days a week. I’m not allowed to consider being home and working childcare - my children are in fulltime daycare - but it does mean if one is home sick I can work during their naps. My salary is $85k which means adjusted for the hours I work (9-5:45 4 days a week) it’s anout $80k. My agency takes work life balance pretty seriously - I have supervisors who have worked part time, for example - but not all do. Also, it is technically against the law for federal employees to work unpaid hours (like nights / working on vacation) but I know some people do. |
| World Bank. |
| Pp here. Meant to say adjusted is about $70k |
| Professional engineer working for large general contractor. 8 to 4:30. No weekends or after hours stuff. Largely stress free. Month long vaca every 2 yrs or so. |
| I work in a preschool. When school closes at 3pm, we all go home. The money I make goes towards our mortgage and I get to be with my kids after school. Summers off too! |
