Girl Scout cookies are gross

Why are we having our girls sell crap? Surely there are other ways to learn about money management, marketing, etc.

I luuuv Girl Scout cookies. Nom nom nom.

But there seem to be fewer and smaller cookies in the same size box each year.

Love thin mints. You're a bad sport OP

Not OP but I completely agree. They are so dry and flavorless.

AND overpriced

There, I said it.

They ruined them when they took out the trans fat. Some will think that it was worth it, but... they were good back in the day.

I'd give them $10 a box if they were just repackaged Tate's. I refuse to buy girl scout cookies anymore because they've been so awful last couple years.

We inhaled several boxes of do-so-does, thin mints, and the chocolate peanut butter ones I am too tired to remember.

Plenty yum.

+100

They are terrible!

So happy the neighbor’s girls gave up on Girl Scouts this year!! Used to hate having to buy them every year. Ended up dumping them off at work.

Just buy a box, smile, shut up, and move on.

Mom to two Girl Scouts and former leader. I will never, ever deal with cookies again. Around here, where cookies sell for $4/box for normal varieties and $5/box for the more expensive, the troop gets $0.70 on the box (if you forego the "rewards."). And the PITA factor is through the roof between online sales, door-to-door sales, booth sales, and having to track every. single. box. Next year I'm writing a check to each troop and buying hours and hours of my life back.

Not to mention the fact that the cookies are actually trans-fat free....because they use palm oil, which is driving orangutans extinct and contributing to rainforest deforestation, global warming and all sorts of human rights abuses.

It's just too bad that we can't set up a booth asking for straight-up cash donations, and there's no other great way to raise funds for the troops (and the Council).

I just had to get this off my chest.

To respond to someone else, I fully support the Scouts and the different activities they encourage. I just think the cookies suck.

i am with you

I just opened my thin mints, long anticipated, and I have to agree with OP; they were bad. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE them. So sad.

This times 1000! My first year as a co-leader and cookie manager. Insane. I think we were 5 boxes off. I have no idea what will happen in the system lol, since it's horrible and not user friendly in the slightest.

I agree, it sucks that we have to do BOTH product sales and cookie booths to be able to pursue alternative fundraising, and even then it has to be council approved. I also didn't realize they used palm oil. That's discouraging and makes me not want to sell them even more!

I have never had anything more than multiple sleeves of thin mints, so I can't comment
