McLean HS is not a special education center, but there are still over 10% of the population who receive special education services. I could not find a stat that showed what the overall FCPS HS population currently receives special education. Only a gross % that includes those student who received special education in all grades and those that receive series in preschool and after a normal 12th grade. If you have a link to that stat, we could see how close MHS is to the norm. |
Overall, I didn’t find the administrators at Longfellow and McLean “complacent.” The administration at Longfellow veered a bit towards the self-congratulatory, and the McLean administration put up with a few bad teachers who didn’t belong in classrooms, but overall they work hard to address the needs of kids. |
PP here. This is primarily what I was referring to. I can think of at least 4 separate teachers my kids had at MHS who essentially didn't actually teach. Our attempts to raise concerns were uniformly brushed off. |
