What’s your monthly car payment?

Not paid off, but PIF, like a grown up.

I'm appalled with how many people in this thread are paying upwards of $300. Time to start spending within your means.

Yeah, that's scary high.

I still have a student loan to pay that’s at a higher interest rate than the car. Once I pay off the loan, hopefully this year, I’ll start making extra payments on the car.

Why are you getting a five year loan? You are wasting money on interest. Scale back your car and stick to 2 or 3 years at the MOST.

We do the same thing, sometimes 6 years. DH is in sales and his income has ranged from 200k-600k and he would be let go in a down year and take a full year to rebuild. We keep all our monthly obligations low. Our last car we paid off in 8 months, and currently have no payment.

Not sure why you find it so incomprehensible that not everyone can handle a big payment as the PP clearly spelled it out for you. Maybe that is all the PP can afford. Reading is fundamental.

I’d rather finance longer and pay off quicker than finance shorter and end up not being able to make the payment.

I’m paying in the low 500’s for a car that was around 30k. I did 100% financing (no down payment) with zero percent interest.

Because some people don't buy cars that they cannot afford. I assume those people who posted $0 paid their car in full on the day of purchase.

Not necessarily. I had a $400 monthly payment for 5 years until I paid it off. It’s been great having no payment for the past 5 years but I’m going to need a new car soon— I have 200,000 miles on it now.

Similar. We paid our cars off in 3 years. It felt tight, but so good once we had no car payment.

We have no car payments. However, we make a "payment" of $600/month to a separate savings account. That account funds all car expenses except gas, and when we need to buy a car - big pile of cash, no car "payments." It also can double as a supplement to our emergency fund.

$300 for a car even at a 36-48 month loan is honestly really low. Some pay $300 on just hair and nails each month. It all just depends on what's important!

There are different circumstances. If I can get 0 % financing I would rather use that and put the 40k in the market and generate free money. Like a grown up.
