$675 2017 Toyota Highlander XLE; financed about $34K; this replaced our 14yo Volvo station wagon which we paid off in 3yrs

other cars are 2006 Saab sedan which we paid $800/mo and have owned free and clear for 10 years and 26yo first-run Miata convertible which has undergone body restoration and is appreciating in value (and has been free and clear for 22 years)

I paid about $300/mo for my Kia. I put down $5K and insisted they finance it for 5 years. They were trying to talk me into financing for 6 years. It’s paid off now. My teen will get it soon, and I’ll get another car with a similar payment.

I bought a used 2012 Toyota in 2015. Price was $14K and I put $5K down. Now I pay $200/mo on a 5 year loan.

I still have a student loan to pay that’s at a higher interest rate than the car. Once I pay off the loan, hopefully this year, I’ll start making extra payments on the car.
