Wait, what?

Even better - buy Costco cash online on costco.com. don't have to be a member to shop there (with some exceptions)

I was just thinking about food and supplies like toilet paper I didn't even consider the savings on diapers, glasses, gas and party supplies. We're planning a birthday party for LO in a couple of months so I'm definitely joining before then.

The return policy alone is worth the membership fee. And the cumulitive savings. And their credit card gives you a nice annual return via a check.

Add to your list electronics, trips, car rentals, tires, photo processing, printer ink, pharmacy, seasonal wear (halloween costumes, Christmas/Easter dresses, bathing suits, snow gear) in addition to the produce, seafood, meals, bakery, etc.

Keep in mind, the only down side you'll still have to backfill at a regular grocery store for the small items like salad dressing (unless you're ok with 3 gallons of ranch) or a specific brand/type. Not a big deal, but just a thought.

We're a family of 6 with 4 growing kids and Costco is key to our budget.

Costco is a Seattle company, like REI, Starbucks and Amazon. As such, it tends to lean toward the progressive in various aspects of its business conduct. Costco has taken a beating from Wall Street over the last many years for refusing to pay its employee minimum wage, and for offering a solid benefits package (it pays employees well). Google it.

if you have teenage boys you will live at costco. My annual kickback check due in any day now will be over $1200

I wear contact lenses, and the money I save on those pretty much pays for the membership. Also love their birthday cakes ($20 for a huge cake), and I have 3 kids so buy three of those per year. Otherwise I go maybe once every couple of months and stock up on things like shampoo, paper towels and toilet paper, tampons. I don't really use it for regular grocery shopping, though.

Also want to echo PP that they have the cheapest prescription glasses. Savings from that alone will more than pay for the membership fee. For example, I replaced the lens on my high prescription glasses for $175 which would have costed 3x at an optical shop.

We recently bought a high quality 2-piece sectional sofa for $800. It was available only at the warehouse so we had to haul it ourselves. But totally worth it. We have been looking to replace the old sofa but could not find the one we like in the furniture stores. One day we went to costco for a grocery run and happen to see it and knew that it was the one. It is reassuring to know that they do not sell shoddy stuff like at the cheap furniture stores. Also their generous return policy adds to the peace of mind.

I also use their pharmacy. Often prices are cheaper than co-pay. I get contacts there as well, a year supply for much less than anywhere else (and I still submit it to my vision insurance afterwards. I also got great eyeglasses there, and so did my daughter.

I go biweekly or monthly. I don't get that much fresh food there anymore, but I get all the other stuff: toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, napkins, trash bags, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce, almonds, raisins, etc.

I can't imagine not going to Costco.

What tv did you get?

Huh? Costco is one of the good guys in terms of wages. It's not Walmart/Sam's busted for hiring illigals

Where I'm from getting a job at Costco is considered an achievement. Once people get hired they very rarely ever leave. It's a very good job to have at least where in from.

I’m the pp who said I’d rather support a good business and I did mean Costco. I’m a big fan! Clearly need to be clearer on DCUM.
