You are sending them back to a country they don’t remember or have ties to, in many cases. If they came here as children, they are for all intensive purposes citizens.

Which is why an attempt is being made to help them out but it is an imperative that we minimize the possibility that it happens again and with the Democratic party being captive to the Hispanic lobby nothing will get passed in the way of meaningful border security without including DACA as part of the deal.

Traditionally a GOP constituency based on Cuba policy and pro-life. I guess the GOP wants to flush another voting block down the toilet.

Hillary and Trump were both hawks.

Duh.

Americans are paying attention right now. They want a permanent DACA resolution, they want CHIP funded for at least 6 if not 10 years (saves $6B over ten years to fund it now) and they want the nonsense to stop. The GOP are fully in control and could do all of this yesterday, but they aren't.

No way the dems get blamed for this.

If the Democrats want to hold the budget hostage because they want a DACA deal then shame on them. Deal with DACA separately. Shame an any party that continues to tack different agendas together as a way to fight the other side. The spending bill doesn't, and shouldn't, have anything to do with DACA.

Dems have tried. GOP won't deal with it. Were you this passionate when the GOP threw roadblocks in front of past budgets?

Cubans have traditionally been a GOP constituency but other Hispanics have not.

As far as flushing voting blocs down the toilet ...... umm...... Trump is in the White House and Hillary is hawking her book.

Do you know why DACA is an issue today? Because the GOP was never once willing to put it to the floor for a vote, so no.

Exactly. The GOP as a whole hasn't acted in good faith on this issue at any point along the way. Dems would be fools to believe that if they pass this resolution the GOP will start negotiating sincerely on DACA.

After all, Susan Collins is still waiting on Obamacare stabilization, and the GOP isn't even pretending to keep their word on that one.

There is a viable proposal for dealing with DACA but it needs funding for the wall/enhanced border security, limiting chain migration, and cutting back on the number of new immigrants by limiting to a merit based system without regard to country of origin. If these are part of the legislation the DACA kids can be given right of residence and a pathway to citizenship.

So DACA beneficiaries are just pawns to achieve other ends. Got it.

DACA beneficiaries are getting a break if legislation passes. What is required is to take measures to minimize the likelihood of it happening again.

So punish the DACA beneficiaries for things other people might do in the future.

How very... something... of you.

Bizarre reasoning ........

You know they're human beings, right? Human beings who are innocent victims in this? They're not things, they're not trash, they're actual human beings, just like you, with just as much inherent value as you have.

They are in the country illegally ..... they have no more right to reside in this country on a permanent basis than any other foreigner.

Wow, it really is that hard for you to just admit they're human beings. You always need a caveat to justify your morally bankrupt stance.

Turnabout is fair play, right?

Republicans stole a Supreme Court seat from Obama. That is shameful. Why should Democrats play nice?

Right....it is always the Dems who are expected to compromise. Folks seem to forget that McConnell proudly proclaimed that he would obstruct whatever he could when it came to BHO.

Another PP here. I am a Dem and even I cannot figure out where the PP is going with this. A bill that takes care of the Dreamers is fine with most of us. We are not crazy about some of the other parts, but protecting Dreamers is the priority at this point.

Y'all realize that $20bn for The Wall is just corrupt graft for the Trump family to dole out no-bid contracts to their friends, right?

It's a massive infrastructure project to subsidize Trump family and friends.

You're a Dem and you don't get it? You don't get that the GOP keeps stringing us along on DACA to get us to agree to other stuff only to shove DACA under the rug again? And then pull it out when it's convenient to get some needed Dem votes on other stuff, only to stuff it away again? No one on the right is acknowledging that they are toying with human beings who have clue what's going to happen to them in the next few months and are scared out of their minds because of it, because they don't care. They don't care because they don't seem them as people deserving of some minimal level of respect as such. They are pawns in a political game that the GOP wants to keep playing with.

Sounds to me like the Republicans can't even get their own shit together to pass this mess. Not sure anyone can say it's Democrats' fault when Republicans cannot even control their own majorities.

House GOP leaders now believe the must-pass temporary spending bill will clear their chamber “by the skin of their teeth,” as one Republican leadership source put it. Ryan and his whip team used the hours before the scheduled Thursday vote to continue arm-twisting their own party to back the bill. Ryan’s biggest problem, unsurprisingly, is the House Freedom Caucus, which is threatening to vote no unless they get a concession from leadership. Freedom Caucus leaders Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) and Jim Jorden (R-Ohio) told reporters Thursday that they had yet to strike a deal with Ryan’s team to deliver their votes. ... House GOP leaders recognize they may have to go to the floor and dare their members to vote "no." ...

Even if the measure passes the House Thursday, it faces an uphill battle in the Senate. With only a 51-49 margin of Republican control in that chamber — and Sen. John McCain absent due to cancer treatment —McConnell has a small margin for error and has already lost two Senate Republicans. Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) have come out against the provision because they— like many defense hawks — say it cripples the military. And GOP Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Mike Lee (Utah) also may oppose the package, meaning McConnell would have to get at least 13 Senate Democrats to vote for it to avoid a shutdown.

The bipartisan bill to keep the government open has at LEAST 56 votes in the Senate. It WOULD pass. But McConnell refuses to put it on the floor for a vote.

Pelosi asked Paul Ryan to put the bipartisan House deal on the floor for a vote. Paul Ryan said no.

Lindsey Graham and Jerry Moran asked for a 4-5 day funding extension to buy time for a bipartisan deal. Answer was no.

But at least four Republican Senators, probably more, oppose the GOP funding bill. This means Republicans do not even have a simple majority of 50 votes for their partisan bill.

With time running out, Trump thought it was more important to tweet the Fake News Awards and opposition to the House GOP bill.

So, we're full circle. Republicans can't govern. Strategy is now turning to how message blame. And oh - Trump is disappointed with Mitch again (for not being able to read his mind). Sad Mitch will now make a last ditch pitch to blame Dems as obstructionists.

They are doing a pretty good job so far: tax bill, judicial appointments at a record pace, deregulation, individual mandate repealed, a roaring stock market.

DACA is a non-issue for now: after all, a Democratic appointed federal judge has stayed Trump's EO leaving Obama's program still in effect.

Let the Supreme court decide and then deal with it.

-Our great-grandchilden will be paying for the tax bill
-GOP refused to allow perfectly qualified nominees onto the bench. These are all stolen seats.
-Our children and grandchildren will be paying the health price for the deregulation, particularly on things like the use of dangerous pesticides. Why is that a win?
-I'll reserve judgement to see what the rest of the healthcare solution from the GOP is. As of now, the ACA had re-enrollment in high numbers despite efforts to surpress.
-The stock market is irrelevant to most Americans, but even if you want to be granted this credit, it went up more under Obama (so far) in terms of percentage growth.

That’s not really governing.

Don't be so downcast. Yes, I know you wanted Hillary but that did not happen. Trump is doing what he said he would and so far he has done a pretty good job in terms of his agenda despite his tweets.
