Capitol Hill Safety Schools?

Depends on the school. Watkins loses kids around 2nd/3rd. Brent keeps kids through 4th/5th. People leave Miner after Pk4.

Depends on the school but also on the other options. Many people are satisfied with their elementary but move when they get an offer for a school with a good middle school feeder. Proximity to a lot of good-enough charters or desirable neighborhood schools can affect it-- schools in Ward 5 really struggle with this. Sometimes people leave because they want to buy a home but can't afford to do so without moving farther out. It's unfortunate, because a lot of these schools really could thrive if DCPS would get its middle school act together.

What about Payne, Peabody, Miner, LT and Tyler?

Tyler loses kids after PreK

A lot of those schools lose kids after PK3 or PK4 because the kids go to their in-boundary school after that (whether it's Brent and Maury or whether the family moves to upper NW or the suburbs), and that was always the plan.

Pretty much everyone bails on Peabody after K.
