New poster here. Actually, sweetie, that poster did not snark on politics or your world view, but offered an honest appraisal. Why so defensive? You must be aware of the school's reputation. Liberty in particular is not an academically rigorous institution, and any state school is going to be better than Liberty for academics as well as law school prep. Best of luck to you. |
Just for balance - I am an IT hiring manager, and when I am not familiar with a school listed, the only thing I look at is if the school the person got their degree from is accredited by some legit major accrediting body. Experience counts for far more. So not every field will care about the political or religious views of an applicants university. |
No, 98.5% Mormon and very difficult to get into if you are not Mormon - those slots are saved for football players. |
No, but they would welcome a Mormon potential 4 year conversion project. |

PALEOCON! !
Bless his heart. |
Nope. He was racist and extremely sexists. His posts on white separatists posts were uncovered, he tried to claim he was “just joking” not buying it. |
| Op if you’re LDS (and this isn’t a troll post), I would definitely do BYU. It’s a very reputable college. Honestly - as LDS, you won’t fit in at the other colleges you’ve listed. They will consider you basically one step away from a pagan heretic. There’s mandatory church/religious service attendance and it won’t be LDS-friendly. It just won’t be a good situation. BYU all the way. |
| Also why does Liberty have a 20% acceptance rate? Genuinely curious. |
I wonder how he's doing at St. John's? Paleocon -- you out there? |
| Check out the academic rankings of both schools and the ROI for the degree. Are you going to take out student loans? Liberty is very expensive, and, as others have said, you are going to have a tough time finding an employer who views a LU degree favorably. |
I asked about this in a different thread about Liberty. Someone who seemed familiar with the school noted that they'll take anyone for the online program (which is the majority of students). For the on-campus program, they don't have high SAT or GPA requirements, but they do have a minimum and apparently a lot of really unqualified people apply. You also have to sign a Code of Conduct pledge to live on campus. A lot of students probably refuse and are subsequently rejected. My neighbor's kid did the online program for her BA in education. She's now doing the Master's prgram and doesn't want to fulfill the very few on campus requirements. The undergrad part is a non-licensure program but the mom is certain she'll manage to land a job in FCPS or APS anyway. |
I'm a corporate recruiter for a Fortune 500 company and we have hired numerous BYU, Wheaton and Hillsdale grads but very few Liberty grads if any (at least in my 5 years there). |
You wouldn't take SMU seriously? |
That is exactly who I think the OP is. He likes to come on this site with "what if" situations especially controversial ones. Bet $1 it's him. |
