Hello. I'm seeking opinions of, and anecdotal info about, Hillsdale College and Liberty University

Yours is the type of response I specifically mentioned I wasn't looking for. Clearly reading compression isn't your forte, which doesn't speak well for wherever you went to school.

My mom did mention I would get responses like yours. I owe her a batch of cookies now

You did ask for "opinions" and this response was perfectly reasonable. As a young person who demonstrably doesn't have a clue, you should know that nobody outside of the evangelical Christian community considers Liberty to be anything other than a joke school.

Right?
Related: I spend to much time here.

It's pretty arrogant of you to assume I'd be the least bit interested in working for you.

Do you agree?

Will you ever be the least bit interested in working for anyone? Or are you just going to get a pile of worthless degrees?

My DD's history teacher at a well known MCPS high school has a Liberty University grad degree.

I'd be very surprised if there is any measurable Mormon population at Liberty. You may be outcast or constantly the target of conversion attempts. Also, whatever value a Liberty BA had has been incredibly diluted by its huge, indiscriminate online degree programs. It's a borderline for-profit at this point.

This.

And I think it's good for east coast people to go west for a while and see what it's like to relax a little.

I asked for firsthand experience, or family experience. I'm not interested in what "you'd be surprised" about. It's baseless and verifies that you in fact are just wildly speculative

Op, you sound like a know-it-all, and you know very little, and are showing very little grace.

OP is in good company on this thread where arrogance abounds.

Well, sweetie, I’m 30 years older than you, have lived in the Mormon west, DC, and spent a fair amount of time with evangelical Christians. But good luck when you don’t want to listen to people who you’ve asked for advice.

Op You are likelto find a Liberty degree very limiting. As a hiring manager I would never hire ftom there. But I had a Hillsdale intern thos summer snd she was terrific.

Agree with other posters. Liberty isn't a serious/credible school. I grew up about 30 miles from Hillsdale. It's a small town. Good sports program. Conservative and homogenous. These aren't criticisms, just observations. Winters are bearable and when you are from that sort of environment, you learn to embrace it -- skiing, skating, etc. They also have a program where you can do a semester (or school year, I can't remember) in DC working on the Hill. That can get you out of the cold for a bit if it's really an issue.

I suggest that you visit if you haven't already done so. Detroit and Toledo are the closest airports. Good luck with your search.

OP, I ask this in all honesty.

Do you have career goals? Are you male or female? IF you are a girl, and intend to marry and stay at home with your future children a degree from Liberty will be just fine. You can find a husband and your education won't matter.

If you have career goals, what are they? Are you interested in ministry? If so, I think you will be fine with any of the schools on your list.

How interested are you in challenging academics? As someone who attended another college in Virginia (Washington & Lee), I can tell you that my anecdotal experiences with LU students were that while nice, they were not a very intellectually stimulating bunch.

If you are LDS and are considering Liberty and want to stay close to home, have you considered SVU? They have a very nice student body and community.

You're that kid who used to start threads all the time and wanted to go into politics and wanted to argue but then when we'd argue with you claim you didn't want to.

Just because you're not using that user name doesn't mean we don't recognize or remember.

Both are clown colleges that mark attendees as low-grade morons that are virtually unemployable.

m'eh, I earned a BA in criminal justice in less than 18 months while sitting 165 feet under the prairie of South Dakota, surrounded by nuclear missiles. Did it all through written correspondence courses. Cost me about $750 total. That's about as near as anyone can possibly come to a fake degree, but I've been gainfully employed for 33 years.

So that sort of shits on your theory.

Your response was inappropriate. Sorry to tell you but there are many who wouldn't trust the basic skills of a Liberty grad. No one says that about Brigham Young or SMU. Hillsdale, probably doesn't register at all.

Not really, because he seemed like a nice kid.

Yes. Because zero things have changed in the job market in the last three decades.
