I work from home. I run my own business so if I'm not working, I am not getting paid. I also have the flexibility to sometimes pause in the middle of the day and do an hour or a half hour of yoga or pilates. It helps keep me fit and less stressed. I dress in my yoga clothes in the morning in hopes that the stars will align and I'll get my yoga break. If I don't get the break before my kids sports practice, I will do the workout after they are in bed, or I may go for a jog in those same clothes.
The clothes get washed after wearing and I shower once daily. I am reasonably fit and fa r less stressed than if I took the time to change clothes multiple times a day or skipped my workouts to go shopping. Does that answer your question? |

FWIW OP, I'm short, work out daily, and I WAH. I only wear yoga pants when I'm sick, *really* stressed out, or working out. I'm American, but I still find American casualness to be off-putting.
I think it's odd that people are citing her height as a reason to wear yoga pants, because I have to get those hemmed too (along with everything else). I actually think people of most heights should get their pants hemmed...there is an epidemic of ill-fitting and too long pants in this country. I get your point, but I find it odd that you are posting about it. It's pretty obvious that she's doing something slightly unusual but within the bounds of socially acceptable. Now if she were wearing yoga pants with a sports bra everywhere...that would be post-worthy. |
Yes I often say that this is the biggest problem our country is facing. Trying times. |
I actually admitted that I am not MMOB(not that unusual for pps of DCUM) and that I have a hard time understanding the casual attitude towards clothing, but I never judged the yoga wearing mom. I asked why do you think, and do you think it is unusual? I got several good answers, thank you for those pps, and I got judged for not minding my own business, which is justified. |

| The lady in yoga pants sounds comfy. What's not to like? |
|
Of course it's weird.
Who wears the same thing all the time? So weird. Of course OP noticed that someone wears that same thing for THREE YEARS. She isn't blind. |
OP is noticing this woman FAR too much. Op is the one with the major problem. OP, what is your fixation with her? |
| OP just wanted to come here and look down her European nose at American women and their fashion sense. She's a Euro-snob and hoped you'd all join in with her sneering. |
OMG who cares. And I say this as a fairly shallow person
I'm built like the mom you are referring to and yoga pants are incredibly comfortable and flattering. I don't wear them a lot outside the home - mine are actually a little longish on me so they would drag and dirty, but if they were slightly shorter I'd be in them all the time. I have such trouble finding other pants - I do have some work pants that are okay for work but I wouldn't wear them on my telecommute days or to games. I do have one pair of jeans and one pair of casual pants but really, they are hard to find if I don't want to fool with getting them tailored. |
Hahahaha! You women are all nuts. So much vitriol for a simple topic of discussion. OP was not mean, yet most of the replies are nasty and angry. Noticing her far too much? Fixation?? Did OP go into the details of how the woman wears her makeup, how she wears her hair or what her breath smells like? OP, don't worry. The women here LIVE for a question like yours. You have made a whole lot of people very happy. The chance to judge and condemn someone for what they think is judgy and condemning? It doesn't get much better than that. You struck DCUM gold. |

There are a lot of hypocrites on this board. Do I think it's silly that women run around in yoga pants and athletic wear (with a tank, black zip up, and black baseball cap) for errands, school runs, grocery store trips, etc? Yes, but that's okay- they're the 2010s version of sweatpants. But if you were raised with any sense of decorum at all, you should know you don't wear them to church, sit-down restaurants, meetings with officials or teachers, etc. And you know you were raised that way too -- you just feel so cool bucking the system.
I wouldn't notice the mom at the sidelines of the sports practice, but if I saw her in enough non-sports contexts like BTSN, school concerts, awards dinners, and she's still in that getup, I'd notice. Wouldn't say anything, would hope she's friendly and nice to talk to, have pleasant conversations, but I'd notice. |
Yes. |
Because she rocks them. |
I could have written this post. I work from home and get up to walk the dogs. I put on my yoga pants, walk them, and then start working. I try to fit in a half hour of yoga at some point in the day. Sometimes I also run errands if I have down time. So I guess my neighbors think this is all I wear too. |
