Wearing nothing else but yoga pants

This is silly, OP. Who cares.

OP here. I admit that would have been much, much more interesting! And you are right, I don't care about her clothing choices, I wanted to see what is a consensus on acceptable different event wear on DCUM. I expected the judging of my judging, par for the course here, and I agree with that part.

OP, what kind of shoes does she wear with her yoga pants?

I wear jeans almost every day. Do you think the same of me?

And as someone around 50, she doesn't care if you don't like it. She is secure in herself these days, and she's worked hard to get there.

She might wonder why you would dress up to watch soccer practice. Why are you trying so hard?

You do you, boo.

This is the most honest, reasonable answer I got so far. Thanks.

You're welcome. Also keep in mind that finding pants (ANY pants!) that fit well off the rack is a big challenge when you're very petite. Even the pants in the petite section can be too long. It's like trying to find a spotted glitter unicorn. So you go with what works. There is a big market to be cornered by the entrepreneur who makes pants that fit petite women with curves.

This is a classic example of women judging women. Why can't we just let others what they're comfortable in? Some days my normal pants don't fit ( water retention?) . I wish I could wear my yoga pants but I'm afraid of being judged.
Moms have it hard as it is, why can't they wear what's comfortable? Let's be kind.

OP, get over it. She looks good in yoga pants and you don't. It's okay, really.

I look better in yoga pants than her. But, whatever. It is weird, and I got my answer here anyway, people answering here are fashion impaired. I am from Europe and will never understand the US women's lack of pride in their appearance. If she looks good in yoga pants, surely she looks good in other clothes too.

OP, were you hoping that people would come on here and ridicule your acquaintance for wearing yoga pants all the time?

Some people just don't care that much about clothes. Black yoga pants are easy and comfortable, and one doesn't have to give a lot of thought to what to put on with them. Black pants and a top and you're dressed for the day. It's not my personal choice, but I certainly see the attraction in not having to worry about what you're wearing each day.

I posted so I can see what clothing choices are the norm for people posting here, she was an example. I am not new to DCUM and knew that this would give me a good perspective. It is about fashion choices, and it seems I was right. She is not poor, she is very affluent.

Serious question, why are you concerned with the fashion choices that other people make? Do you own a fashion related business and are doing research for the development of your business?

OP, have you ever thought for one moment that not everyone, even fit affluent moms, are making fashion choices when they dress everyday? Some don’t give two shits what you or anyone thinks about their pants. Others are wearing soft clothes for a myriad of medical issues. God forbid someone is healing from a medical procedure or surgery. You keep coming back and only liking answers suitable to you. God help you.

In certain areas, especially when I visited family in Tennessee, I've noticed that fashionable workout wear is the current "mom uniform". I felt out of place in my jeans.

Is she in the picture with you while shaking hands with the Pope? Is she the First Lady? Is she representing your company? You're the snarky one for having to comment on it.

+1 to this, as a petite woman with curves!

though, not to get too far off topic - loft has become my pants mainstay, even though by and large i do not like their clothes. their petite pants are fine.

+2 super weird. You're the strange one in this situation

I'm actually kind of envious of her. Not for being petite and cute - I think I look decent in yoga pants too - but for having a simplified wardrobe.

The "pants" section of my closet includes good jeans, gardening jeans, workout pants, joggers for lounging around the house, khakis/cargo pants (lightweight / breathable type) for hiking and outdoor work, slim cropped black pants for casual work days, trousers in 2-3 different colors for less casual work days, and suits for the most formal work days. Then let's add skirts (casual, business-casual and suits), dresses (casual, work, and dressy/date-night), and shorts.

I would love to streamline all of that to one type of pants. I have far too many different styles of clothes.

OP, I have a weekend uniform -- always yoga pants and in the cool weather the exact same hoodie.

I have a big job downtown and have to dress up 90% of the time. By the time the weekend rolls around you can't pry my yoga pants off of me.

NP. I think PP here is a classic example of women being overly sensitive. OP didn't judge anyone. She made an observation about another woman, was curious about that observation, and asked a couple of questions to a group of people uniquely qualified to provide some insight. Having and expressing an opinion is not the same as judging.

OP, fwiw, I wear yoga pants far more often than I would like (and I don't look particularly good in them). I do it because they are comfortable, easy to throw on, easy to layer with, and because I'm super short and have a hard time finding casual pants that I don't have to hem. And sometimes because I'd like to think I'm going to work out later in the day, even though I damn well know I probably won't.

OP literally admitted she is judging.
