In contrast, that spendthrift Democrat Sebelius flew coach everywhere except remote areas in Alaska which were not otherwise accessible. |
It's always okay if you're a republicon. |
Where are all of you who are always yelling about "waste and fraud"? |
I believe they are flying above us on their private jets from D.C. to Philly, courtesy of the US taxpayer. |
"In June, Price spoke at a physicians association conference in San Diego, where he vowed to wring out wasteful spending in the government’s health care programs. Getting “value” for spending “is incredibly important,” he said. Price took a private plane to get to the meeting, which was one stop on a five-state sprint of charter travel that cost $50,420." |
What a sleaze. |
And that's without mentioning that he violated the law by profiting from health industry stock trades while serving on the House Budget Committee and the Ways and Means Committee’s health panel. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/hhs-pick-tom-price-made-brazen-stock-trades-committee-scrutiny/ |
Hmm. No defense of Price from the maga-bots? |
Or from fiscal conservatives wringing their hands about "waste, fraud and abuse"? |
He tried to blame the hurricanes, but had 30 or so flights like this before Harvey.
Liar too. |
+1 Here's one of his pre-Harvey, "oh so urgent" trips. Price took a Learjet-60 from San Diego to the Aspen Ideas Festival — a glamorous conference at the Colorado resort town — that arrived at 3:33 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, June 24, nearly 19 hours before his scheduled panel. That flight likely cost more than $7,100, according to one charter jet agency estimate. “If you’re going to a conference, you have some [advance] flexibility to book travel” and shouldn’t need last-minute charters, said Walter Shaub, who was the Barack Obama-appointed director of the United States Office of Government Ethics until July. “This shows a complete disregard for the expense to the taxpayer.” |
Healthcare CEOs are making millions and fly private jets. Tom Price is in charge of manage a huge part of our economy. Frankly if he decides to work in the private sector, he will be getting these benefits and much more. If his agency's overhead expense remains flat or even decreases, I am not sure this is such a big deal. The opportunity cost of the hours saved by flying private may justify the extra expense. |
Not to the tune of a 25k flight from DC to Philadelphia, hell no. And now we are finding out the Betsy DeVos is using her own plane, but the US taxpayer is reimbursing for those costs. So much for draining the swamp. These people are using the treasury as their own piggy bank. |
tom price is free to join private sector. btw there is no way he would be flying private planes there - he is a minor congressman now promoted to a minor secretary. in no way does he compare to big pharma CEOs who had to climb corporate ladders for decades. |
Maybe you should amend the law to reflect this novel approach to government travel policy. |
