I think you missed the point about Khan. If a presidential candidate can say whatever he wants about a Gold Star family, and be elected, then it's hard to complain about what Gutierrez said. Or, if Trump was elected in spite of his language, then Gutierrez went too far.

I guess you have no thoughts about Kelley's response.

You don't remember the flow of unaccompanied minors that came across the border? That's an "unintended consequence" of Obama's EO. That was the encouragement. And, I don't need to give you a direct quote--you can find that yourself. For years before the EO, Obama said he couldn't do it because it was unconstitutional. Sorry, I used the term "illegal" instead of "unconstitutional". To me, it comes out the same.

But his role in the White House is disgraceful and while I'd initially hoped Kelly took the position as a means to stabilize a completely out of control, highly incompetent (possibly mentally ill) POTUS and his cabinet for the well being of our country, he is nothing more than a partisan hack. He is lending credibility to and shoring up Trump's incompetent leadership. Too bad. Kelly seemed like a hero, now he just seems power hungry. But GOP apples don't seem to fall far from the tree.

The thing about the unaccompanied minors is that they are not eligible for DACA. But their mistake does not mean that DACA is unconstitutional, and I don't think it is. Others do. Disagreement among lawyers doesn't mean that something is unconstitutional, although it does mean that it's controversial.

Military people have been serving disgraceful human beings since one person told another person to pick up a rock and throw it at an enemy. Military people swear an oath to serve their country rather than a person and that is what they try to do. Look at the poor people ordered to Vietnam by Kennedy and Johnson. Both presidents are lionized but they killed many in what they knew from the French was a fruitless war

I wish Trump would surround himself by military because I think they insert badly needed discipline into the mess. Isn't there a hot colonel somewhere who could be Chiefp of Communications?
