Did you post in the wrong thread? |
no. all threads are open to everyone |

Is that a joke? It has to be or you must be smoking something. W schools are nowhere near Blair Magnet. Not even close. |
LOL. Let me guess...Larla didn't make it into Blair Magnet, right? |
Don't pay much attention to the W boosters. They are just bitter that their snowflakes couldn't make it to Blair Magnet. |
This |
Funny last year 61 kids admitted to the program were from W zip codes. If it wasn't for mandated DCC slots the program would be almost entirely composed of W kids being lured to segregate the otherwise mediocre poor DCC school. |
I wonder how you know that? I also wonder how it's relevant. "Lots of kids in the Blair SMACS magnet are from Bethesda and Potomac" =/= "Every kid who applies from Bethesda or Potomac gets admitted to the Blair SMACS magnet." Not to mention, why are all of these kids from Bethesda and Potomac applying to the Blair SMACS magnet if the Bethesda/Potomac high schools are far more challenging? (Not to mention, why am I arguing with one of the Blair trolls?) |
There are no DCC mandated spots for Blair..only Takoma Park. |
How said the W schools are more challenging than other mcps HS? The curriculum are the same for all HS in mcps. They just have better test scores bc more students are from families with highyl educated parents. |
There are no mandated DCC slots. |
PP was comparing the Blair magnet curriculum to the regular curriculum at W high schools. Not the same, not by a long shot. |
Just to wade between the pissing contest between Ms Whitman booster and the Blair Witch...Magnet Project.
I'm "NASA guy" who commented a lot prior to the eclipse. I have worked at NASA's G*dd*rd Space Flight Center for many years (for a while, our name was unfortunately barred due to some preschool troll). ERHS is walking distance down Greenbelt Rd from GSFC. One positive I note for ERHS students is that there are a number of opportunities every year for ERHS magnet students to attend programs at GSFC designed for advanced STEM students. We have a HS internship program that brings a lot of ERHS students to GSFC for about 9-10 weeks in the summer working with some very interesting projects in Earth and Space Science and Engineering. ERHS drama students have been guests at our community theater productions. ERHS students also have attended workshops and open houses on center. They can be invited to attend presentations by our college interns at the end of the college intern programs. I see ERHS students on center multiple times throughout the year. These are opportunities that are not available as routinely to Blair students. |
