I would emphasize the “new” here. My ex is a serial whirlwind romancer. I was the first of many women bowled over by his ardor and his family’s “love bombing”. Since our divorce almost a decade and a half ago, he has been married (and divorced in a bit over a year) once and engaged at least seven times. When he shows up at DC’s events with yet-another woman he’s dated less than three weeks and declares she’s his fiancée, he just can’t understand the eye-rolling from my friends and family. I dated my now DH for two years before my ex met him and we would only expect an invite to a major life event or exceptional achievement. |
This is all well & good until one you remarries. Then your kids will have a 1-2 punch of a new parent & actually divorced parents. I’m all for having a good relationship for the kids- but weekend chilling is not for them, it’s for you |
