nobody in Arlington publicly opposes affordable housing initiatives (which are killing neighborhoods and the over-crowded schools in their zones) or against more homeless shelters. arlingtonians pride themselves on being liberal, but so many are so naïve and from a place of wealth to begin with that they have absolutely zero idea of the repercussions like those of us few Arlingtonian residents that rose out of poverty and tried to get away from this stuff. |
Abide by the rules?? 99.9% suffer from severe addiction and/or mental illness so they aren't capable. Most don't stay because of the environments inside the shelters. |
Didn't the DC mayor at the start of the winter season shout loud and proud that DC would not host any homeless people who are not residents of the city, the cost was too prohibitive for the city's budget. Didn't quite get this, I mean if your homeless how can you prove you're a DC resident? Anyway, I am sure this had some effect on the homeless migrating over to Virginia, they are going to stay near public transportation, not in the suburbs. |
And these are the people who should be sent into communities with the illnesses you purport? 99.9% suffering from addiction and mental illness in a family neighborhood, or any functioning neighborhood for that matter, is not a good idea. |
yes. my son noticed they put fencing up around the area under the bridge near the Watergate (right before you head towards Arlington). It used to be a huge population there, but now they don't have access to that area and walked across the bridge. |
How does one without a fixed address verify DC residency
|
So if the Arlington GOP supports it, its not liberalism, eh? Sounds like there is consensus. Sounds like you don't live in Arlington. Perhaps you should no longer comment on its politics? Or tell us at least where you do live, so we can discuss the success of that place, and how well it deals with issues of poverty and homelessness. |
Not that I am aware of. Link please? |
They are our brothers and sisters, our friends and our neighbors. They are mostly not a danger to others, but are endangered themselves. So yes, they belong in our communities. |
Seriously, Do u rent or a homeowner? Arlington doesn't pay their social workers enough to buy a house in Arlington county. |
And therefore, we are going to need you to be more tolerant, Arlington. Can't you see these people are the victims? Not the rich building and housing owners. Not all homeless commit sexual assaults. And it's not that bad. The rates used to be a lot higher you know. Stop complaining OK? You all sound extremely privileged. |
How many people equates to the 11% decrease of DC's homeless population and how many people equates to 33% increase in Arlington's population? |
| A homeless guy around there asked me for a slice of pizza I was bringing back. I asked if he was ok with the particular toppings. He said f**** no. Homeless got it good there. |
| Someone share which buildings have the homeless issue... we're looking at renting in Arlington - Courthouse. |
+1,000,000 -Also rose out of poverty and yes, many of the "Liberals" are extremely 1)privileged and 2) naive. That's what the working class is rebelling against these days across the country, right? Snooty elites and how they think they know it all but actually know shit? |
