Travel Sport Affairs

Are affairs prevalent among travel team parents and what has your experience been?

very low possibility.

I can't imagine cheating while in a hotel with my daughter for a weekend.

There are two parents on my kid's classic soccer team that we have our suspicions about.

I'm sure it happens.

It does happen but a lot of what I see is flirting like HS. Perhaps it makes some people feel they are still attractive?

There are 2 parents always chatting it up and together. My son left his ball at the practice field. We drive back an hour later, everyone was gone but they were still talking while the kids were playing. Seems questionable.

This is questionable? Two people talking while their kids are playing? WTH??

The whole environment was about as non affair friendly as I can imagine. Right up there with church work group trips. If people are looking to stray there are many better places like hotel bars on business trips.

This.

I've done travel sport for 4 years, I have not seen any affairs yet. It would be quite difficult to start one. You don't want to get anything started with your kids teammates' parents. I don't find that environment affiair friendly - everyone is fixated on their kid.

My experience has been different as I have had some success with a mother on son's hockey team. It is easier to work logistics as they get older in terms of getting in a play date while the kids have a movie night.

You are clearly not on any of my kid's hockey teams. They've all been playing Tier 1 AAA (relevant only for the massive amount of travel) for several years, and AA before that. I've never seen anyone having an affair, or even acting remotely in a way that would lead anyone to think that's going on. Even the teens are still sharing rooms with their parent, so it seems pretty unlikely.

Two of my three kids have played various travel sports and the amount of drunkeness that goes on amongst some of the parents sets up a situation made for extra-marital hookups. My friend's father was her softball coach. He left her mother for a teammate's mother. Like someone else said earlier in the thread, the actual hookups don't have to be during the tournaments, but the stage can definitely be set at tournaments for affairs to happen once everyone's at home. Personally, I find it somewhat disturbing that so many parents find it necessary to get drunk off their asses during the downtimes at tournaments. For many of those parents, I really think the whole experience is about them and the kids' sport is a way to justify their behavior.

Anonymous wrote:I'm a 42 year old divorced male with two sons on travel teams. I'm also quite active with the PTA and other school parent activities. While the travel teams seem to be Dad oriented, the rest of my activities are very female dominated. I'm a decent looking successful guy and I am amazed at how many of the women subtly flirt asking about my dating life and would I like to meet for coffee some day. Some are single, but quite a few are married. So far I've politely said no as getting involved with a local school mom sounds like a potential train wreck. I don't need it nor do my kids. I really prefer the travel teams because it's mostly guys and the women are with their kids and its all very sports and kid oriented discussions.

Why do men think that if a woman shows interest in his life or if she smiles at him that she wants to f&$@ him? LOL

Oh please the cues are "I'd really like to get to know you better" or "i think we'd have a lot in common" or my personal favorite "You are SO unlike my husband". Some of us didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I run a public company and 2 minutes of googling and someone can find out what I earn. I do have lady friends who show an interest in my life because they know I'm a single dad with a big job and they really do want to help. I cherish them! Some are single, some are married but they all really care about me but especially my kids.

Sure, bro

This is how my ex started his affair (she's married). Two people talking while watching the kids play. So yes, it happens. The kids liked each other and played together often. Lots of time for their affair.

It is possible for two travel team parents to have an affair, but I expect the affair would happen at home and not on the road. As others have pointed out, you sleep in the same room as your kid.

You wouldn't necessarily know about someone else's affair, though.

Band trips. Talking, flirting and he let her know the size of his 'lego' which just added to her interest. Long story short, it didn't happen on a trip but it did happen.

LMAO You wish. Advertising size is such a turn-off, and the few times it happened to me it wasn't nearly as impressive as the guy thought it was.

Sorry for the departure from the thread.

I was really looking for a hot single mom to sit in my lap at my son's game tonight. I was f**king freezing!

Lego? So it was small, bumpy and red?

Let's think these euphemisms through before using, people.

Weird. I'm divorced and attractive and so are the other happily married parents on the travel teams. Typically people who are devoting that kind of time to a sport are pretty family oriented. I'm always on my best behavior because these people are people I count as good friends. We spend a lot of time together and would not want to jeopardize.

+1 In all areas of life, endeavor to think with the big head and not the little head.
