Would that really be a deterrent for anyone? You don't to a gorgeous place like St. John to sit around and watch tv. Even if you wanted to watch something most people just watch on iPads these days anyway. I can't even remember the last time I turned on a tv at a hotel.

For a single mom and ten year old? Yes, I think the kid might want to watch tv at some point...especially if he doesn't have anyone else to hang with. I don't think Caneel is kid friendly. They didn't allow kids for quite some time. Then they allowed them at certain times of the year. Now they limit how many kids you can bring. Not kid friendly. Dinner is dressy, too.

I wouldn't take a kid to St. John for other reasons: no medical care on the island. Saw a kid step on a rusty fish hook and felt so bad for him and his frantic parents as the local explained they needed to get him to a ferry to go to St. Thomas for medical treatment.
