| there's a lot of drugs on the cape - be careful. |
OMG give it a rest, you are not helpful. Didn't Hogan just declare an opiod emergency in MD last week? And DC isn't drug free. The summer residents and vacationers on the Cape do not have drug issues. |
| Try Beaches in Turks and Caicos. |
+1 opioids have become an epidemic on the cape. |
We have a house in Falmouth and opioids have ruined the Cape. Needles on the playground near our house. It's still great for tourists but goddamn the locals are suffering. That being said as a single mom I'd do a cruise for the kids club. |
| The Caps is tool old in June. I'd do a cruise. |
We are in Chatham and I haven't seen any of that yet. But it's more of a summer and retiree town so a different population than the lower Cape. |
I would NOT go as a single woman with a child to St cRoix. It's not the safest place. It's not awful but there are much better places to go. |
| I'm from New England. I'm doing a week in cape cod without my husband but my kids are close in age and are old enough to entertain themselves for stretches. My older son is 10 and I think if I was by myself with him I would do a cruise, club med, southern CA or Colorado ski town (Brekenridge is great). In June the cape and MV will be very quiet bc school doesn't get out in MA until the end of the month. Cruise, you have entertainment built in. Same wth a club med vacation. Southern CA schools get out earlier so lots of kids around in June plus if you do a beach town (Laguna is good) you can likely find a half day surf camp for your son to give him some socialization and yourself a break. Breckinridge, CO is good bc is t has all the amenities of a ski town (Marriott residence has great deals) and heated pools and tons more of hiking. The mountain als has a drop in summer camp that you could have your son spend a day or so at. |
| Mom with 10 yr old boy who has done everything you mentioned. I have an extrovert who needs other little people around. Our Alaska cruise was amazing. He immediately found a few boys his age to hang with. I'm guessing a Disney Cruise would be awesome too. MV and St John great, but quiet and could be cold. |
| And 20:44 has great idea with CO trip. |
+1 Falmouth poster could easily be lying. I have enough friends with Cape Cod houses to know that any drugs are not anywhere near the vacation spots. Stop trying to spread bad information. Whatever your agenda is, it is not working. |

I know there was a special about the current opioid epidemic, and it happened to be shot on the Cape -- but that in no way means that the Cape is being "taken over" - that is just crazy talk.
That is like saying that D.C. is being "taken over" by carjackers. Give me a break. |
Thank you for all the suggestions, and the heads up on the opioids on the Cape, lol. I'll try to avoid them and the drug paraphernalia should we go there
Based on the responses, I'm leaning towards taking a cruise since we haven't done that yet. I just worry it won't be relaxing due to all the crowds, and that I'll miss having unlimited beach time, but maybe I shouldn't knock it before we try it. |
| We had plenty of beach time on our Disney cruises. If you do a Disney cruise, check out deck four after the evening show. So peaceful. Lounge chairs, moonlight over the water. |
