Because affecting environmental action involves collective action, government intervention and regulation on fossil fuel producers (which they read incorrectly as an attack on the free market). It has come to a point where these actions are now imperative to save impending climate disaster. But republicans cannot face this truth, because that means "giving in" to what they believe are progressive ideals. I would respect them more if instead of saying that they don't believe in climate change, they would admit that they do believe in climate change, but they just don't care, because their free market ideology means more to them than the Earth they live in. Plus all of the worst effects of climate change will start hitting around 2100, and don't impact them and maybe not even their kids - so it is easy to live in a fraudulent denial. |
| Honestly folks, I still don't understand why issues like climate change are partisan? People can support or deny them, but its isn't it always a good thing to do things that help out environment regardless. Why not work towards a cleaner society just for the sake of respecting our planet? |
