This. And climate change will affect us all...so sad. |

| Maybe he was recommended by Al Gore. |
|
He is completely unfit to serve. He has many conflicts of interest with the most polluting industries - NYT wrote a Pulitzer-prize winning story on those ties in 2014. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/07/us/politics/energy-firms-in-secretive-alliance-with-attorneys-general.html?smid=fb-nytimes&smtyp=cur

| How can he serve as Administrator of the EPA when he has pending lawsuits against the EPA? Does he sue himself? |
mmmmmmmmNO. |
| Humanity will blame the Republican Party for ruining the earth and killing millions. GOP gave a bottom 5 failed president in 2000 and now has outdone itself with someone who will beat Nixon also. |
No, it goes the other way He will direct that the suits be settled. |
But a settlement won't change case law. EPA regulates Carbon under the Clean Air Act because of a 2007 Supreme Court case and as such that decision would still stand, no? |
| Can someone explain to me why Republicans/conservatives don't care about the earth and the environment? Why do they think pollution is not a problem? Why aren't they concerned about the safety of water and air? Why do they not want to preserve natural beauty? Are they really that selfish that person financial gain is more important to them than the long-term health of the earth? I guess I'm naive, but I really can't wrap my head around how people can be so uncaring about the one planet we have to live on. Why would you deliberately trash it? Would you treat your owns home like this? |
It's gonna be fabulous for them. No worker protections, they will all get black lung, perfect! I bet those idiots don't even realize that Wilbur Ross, the pick for Commerce Sec, owns or owned one of the mines where 12 people died just a few years ago. But, like the PP said, at least no one had a private email server. God I hate Americans. |
h And we hate you. GTFO. |
| Conservatives have doomed us all. Literally. This is fucking scary territory we are in. |
|
Defund the EPA by 80% and defang them. They've done far too much damage already. If their bureaucrats really believe in climate change, they can work for free.
That is all. |
I'd really like to know the answer to this too. I don't know many Trump supporters, except one member of my extended family and her husband. She's a SAHM who doesn't follow politics closely, but finds Trump's message appealing. Her husband works as an overnight security guard. He is a somewhat angry personality who posts lots of pretty awful memes about HRC. He holds some unconventional views--for example, he follows a Facebook group called "Flat Earth Science and the Bible." I have not asked either of them directly about their thoughts on environmental concerns, but my guess is that for people who feel marginalized economically, they're more interested in what's going to help them most immediately. Sort of like Maslow's hierarchy of needs--you have to take care of basic survival needs before worrying about anything else. As for the more affluent GOP folks, I think they just care more about enriching themselves (although they'll probably say they're looking out for average Americans' jobs outlook) than any long-term environmental concerns. |
