On b) I agree, it's just a cheap bone. On a), couldn't disagree more. First, I believe Hillary is smart enough to know that she must surround herself with the most capable minds and hands...and Kaine outshines Booker by a mile, and Hillary by several yards... In conclusion, even if for different reasons, yeah, it's going to be Kaine. |

I'm concerned Booker is all flash but no substance.
I hope the pick will be Vilsack. He exudes calm and capable, will help with Iowa and Pennsylvania. |
| For me, he is in the "I have heard the name but know nothing about him" category. |
| I like Booker, but isn't Booker a bad idea because Christie will get to appoint his replacement to the Senate? |
| Love Booker! When is Hillary announcing her runningmate? |
Booker clearly has had higher aspirations since the beginning of his career. Is that supposed to be a bad thing? He put in the work by taking on the corrupt Sharpe James administration, losing, but rebounding to finally topple James. He did a lot of good development work for Newark. The Zuckerberg thing was a debacle, but let's not pretend that Newark schools were anything close to just "awful"; they were by far the worst in the entire country before "The Gift". |
He has plenty of substance. He is pragmatic. But he is young and trapped in a GOP Senate...not many opportunities to shine there. He'll be a serious contender for President by 2024. |
| I could never vote for someone named Cory. Ugh. |
Agree. I knew that since I watched that documentary about him in Newark. He would be an amazing president. Hope he runs in 2020. |
Sure, they were awful. But, if you waste $100 million, annoy the teacher unions and all to leave the schools equally awful...that's certainly a bad thing. Especially when it's the only big thing you've tried. |
PP here. I agree that project was a failure. They could have done much better with the opportunity they had. But the bottom line is that now 40% of the kids are in charter schools (think KIPP) that are MUCH better than their former schools. That is a decent consolation prize. |
