What is your AAP rising 3rd graders DRA?

How do you know some of his classmates struggled?

There was an event around the holidays and all the parents were talking about the rough transition their kids had. In the end everyone got over the hump I'm pretty sure but when most of the parents spoke about the first few months being rough, it wasn't our experience.

Perhaps they struggled socially or due to something going on at home...what makes you think kids were struggling academically? Seems odd "most" of the parents at a holiday event told you that their kids were struggling...

NP here. Why does it seem odd? Parents commiserate about their kid's school experiences all the time. Given how many kids get into AAP these days (and what some have to do to get in), it does not surprise me at all that parents would talk about a rough transition.

Odd or not, it happened. And they weren't just sitting there telling ME. We were all standing around talking. Parents were talking to one another in a group and the struggle was directed at the academics. Not everyone, but the majority expressed the sentiment. I'm not sure what else I can tell you. I only mentioned it to say, my child did not have a high DRA and was fine. Didn't have a rough transition. His DRA as a rising 3rd grader was only 28 and he did really well this past year. We'll see what 4th grade brings!
