What did your toddler eat for breakfast today?

Apricot fruit pack, goldfish, cup of orange juice.

A bit of oatmeal and strawberries. He gets a "second breakfast" when he gets to preschool, which is awesome as I don't have to worry about him getting enough to eat at home. He normally has breakfast at home because his big sister does, but eats better when he joins the other little kids at school.

16 month old DD eats a whole banana with some cheerios in the am. She also gets a second light breakfast at daycare (typically some fruit and cereal).

Oh! And a cheese stick that was requested after eating the above. How she only weighs 20 lbs is beyond me.

Really? That's not much food (unless she eats a lot more later in the day). My 2.5 year old is in a hungry phase. He ate the following:

5 oz milk, 1 scrambled egg plus a few pieces of my egg, 3 vegetable/fruit pouches, 1 piece of toast with a bit of almond butter. He tends to eat a ton at breakfast and lunch and skimp on dinner.

NP here. That's an insane amount, is he just high on the percentiles?

Is it really an insane amount? I guess my 14 month old is an endless pit...he's 50th percentile weight and usually eats: 2 scrambled eggs, 2-3 fruit pouches, 6oz Greek yogurt, 6-7oz whole milk, a muffin or toast with almond butter, and at least 1 banana (sometimes 2). He eats even more at lunch. I'm becoming very afraid for my grocery budget when he becomes a teenager.

He will slow down once he hits 2. My 2 yr old is a great eater but eats less than she did at 14-18 months for sure. Except for random spurts where she eats adult-sized meals for a few days. Growth spurts I guess? Their growth slows down at 2 and so does their eating.

Ribs, french fries and a milkshake.

Are these crunchy or soft. My kids love chickpeas and I'm looking for more breakfast ideas. Can you suggest roasting temp and time?

Due to some issues with under eating in the past we put out way too many options and the kids take bites here and there of many different things. Lunch and dinner have gotten better (one meat, veg, carb and maybe a couple other things) but breakfast I haven't yet moved to something like one bowl of cereal with fruit.

So today (twins). I cube cheese (little bigger than a dice), couple bites lox, 1/3 of a poptart (gluten free version due to celiac, no more healthy than a regular pop tart), few bites of raisin toast with jam and cream cheese (gluten free bread is pretty hefty and they never eat much of it), some peaches with me. Then my husband came down and of course they wanted all the fruit from his bowl of cereal so they ended up having a good bit of mixed berries. No milk or water much to my consternation.

Forgot to add he then eats "2nd breakfast" with the nanny 1.5 hours later... usually an egg (sometimes 2) and banana/fruit and some kefir drink. 15 month old boy 80-90th%...

Can I ask what your ped's rationale was? I have never encountered this in practice (a child who doesn't eat falling off the growth chart and no concerns being raised...)

He eats dinner. We put him in front of the TV and shovel food into his mouth (but only pasta and rice because that's all he likes). We insisted that the doctor do blood work to see if anything is wrong. He was found to be anemic so we give him iron every day. The iron makes him constipated so we also give him laxatives. I was thinking of consulting a dietician but the inital consult is $300 out of pocket.
I think the doctor's rational is that he's always been small. He fell off the growth chart at 6 months but we were able to bring him back up by 9 months. It's dipped again and apparently that's his growth pattern.

How old is he now? He sounds a lot like my son between 1-2 years old. I remember the only way we'd get any food into him was by playing youtube videos every meal (exactly the opposite of how I thought meals should go). Though my son also vomited frequently.

He was diagnosed at 2 with celiac disease (via endoscopy, blood work isn't reliable with kids less than 3) and since being gluten free is a whole knew child. The ipad is for facetime with grandma only these days. I'd start with a consult with a good GI doctors (should just be a normal copay).

You can even try gluten free for a week or two just to see. Rice and OJ are already fine and you can find plenty of pasta options.

today, a granola bar & 1% milk on the way to daycare then french toast sticks & orange slices when she got there.

yesterday, a scrambled egg with a little cheese, probably about 1/2 cup of mixed berries & milk. Then more egg and cantaloupe when she got to daycare.

Most days, a banana and a yogurt pouch or (my) handful of cheerios en route to school followed by whatever they're serving there (changes daily but it's always fruit with cereal/egg/muffin/waffle/french toast sticks). Actually writing that makes me think I should really make sure her travel mini-breakfast is a protein.

DD's 2 and on the chubby side (over 95% for weight, somewhere in the 80s for height). Ped says we don't need to worry bc she's still so young but recommended we switch to low fat dairy and generally keep an eye on things.

She doesn't have a snack between breakfast and lunch (which is around 11:30 anyway).

now that is an insane amount! Growth spurt or is that normal everyday?

Seriously!!! That's more than most grown men eat!

That's normal everyday for him. He's a pretty skinny kid too, no fat rolls or anything (probably because he's very tall). He out-eats both me and DH at every meal. I don't understand how his stomach can hold all of that, plus he's not even walking yet!

That breakfast you describe is more than my 2.5 year old eats all day on the weekends. She eats more during the week because she eats whatever they serve at lunch and snack times at daycare (thank goodness for peer pressure).
