I'm concerned about the early sexual context at schools. In our Elementary school I hear about them having boyfriends, asking a girl to a dance, etc. It's crazy early. Why can't kids be kids?

Because kids being kids involves boyfriends/girlfriends, etc.

No, it doesn't. Did kids have boyfriends/girlfriends in the Elementary school in the 50s or 60s? No. I'm generation X, girls didn't claim any boyfriends until high school.

I am sorry, but you are wrong or were isolated. I was in middle school for '75-'79, and there were people that were sexually active (I was not one of them). There were dances, GF/BF's. The difference is more that the information did not flow as quickly. The hormones, which are what drives the desire were present back then, just as they are today.

Something that isn't often discuss and what scares me are the kids who don't consider oral (and anal) "sex." They consider themselves virgins unless they are having vaginal sex. My son *thinks* some MS are having oral. These conversations come up through his questions which I try to address as matter of fact (non alarming even though I'm screaming in my head).

I don't know about the 50s or 60s, but yes, they did in the 70s.

You are still a virgin if you've only given/received oral sex.

Anal crosses the line though, IMO.

Yes we did.

I was in elementary school in the 80s. People talked a lot about "going with" a boy or girl. None of it was serious. Seems similar for my kids. Most MSers are not having sex of any kind.

If they have time away from you, you don't know what they're doing.

Yes, that's true. They might be shooting heroin, or robbing banks, or planning to run away to join ISIS. However, most likely they are not doing that, and most likely they are also not having sex of any kind.
