Do not drink at all when you drive. That is the only way. |
In other words "I can't tell if I'm too drunk to drive a car". That's the whole point. When you are drunk, your brain doesn't work. Don't drink and drive. |
oh god. chill out please. my whole point of this post was to see if other people have this feeling. Whenever I drink, I am cautious and I make arrangements to get home. You would know that if you read the whole thread and didn't just jump to judgement. |
What would you do if the breathalyzer showed you were just under the limit? Would you get behind the wheel? If you would, you would still be driving impaired. You would just would not be subject to automatic arrest (assuming your breathalyzer was calibrated exactly the same as the police breathalyzer. Why take the risk that you will hurt someone? If you feel impaired at all, you shouldn't drive. |
10:30 has a good point. Also, the home breathalyzers are not necessarily calibrated to the same accuracy as the police issue ones. (And the police issued ones can be incorrectly calibrated.)
Sometimes I get in the car when I'm tired, but can't avoid driving. (example: have to pick up my daughter from school and it's been a long day and had a restless night.) I've wondered if there's some consequence for driving tired if you get pulled over. Do people who are anorexic face consequences if their reflexes are slowed because their blood sugar is really low? Just curious. |
