Perhaps they don't count for two reasons:
1) They don't speak up. When was the last time you hear someone from some respected black association say to the media "Rev. Sharpton does not represent us, and it is a disgrace that President Obama keeps him as his main counsel on AA affairs. Instead, he should consult with ABC and XYZ."
2) When they speak up, it is in such defensive and stupid ways as you just did

Do you have any black neighbors or friends or colleagues or co-workers or associates?

Because when many of expressed that we thought he was part of a wider White supremacist movement, many Cons on DCUM said, "no, he was a lone wolf - he was just crazy" despite the fact that he openly identified as a White supremacist. So yea, if Dylan Roof was just crazy, so was the shooter in Richmond.
