I skip breakfast because it makes me sick eating that early in the morning. A few years ago, I did try eating it everyday but it seemed to make me hungrier for the rest of the day.

Lunches normally are salads or chicken & veggies or sandwich w/ a piece of fruit or soup

Dinner is my biggest meal and most days it's meat w/ veggies and a potato or some variation

Snacks are usually fruit, celery w/ ranch dip, protein bars, protein shakes, chips, crackers, deli meat, candy on a rare occasion (not really a big candy eater)

Drinks are water and tea; not a big fan of soda but will have it every once in awhile

I will eat fast food a couple times a week; for example, if I eat it for lunch on Mon, I won't eat it again until dinner on Tues or lunch again on Weds (I do know this needs to stop and it was a habit I picked up in college; growing up my parents didn't allow us to eat it except for special occasions)

It's genetic, and also portion size.

I don't work out, although I should.
I regularly eat crap (chips, chocolate, fries, etc) but not a lot of it.

The "secret" is probably portion size, although I don't even realize it. I just serve what I consider to be a normal portion - tiny compared to what is served to one person in restaurants!

I rarely meet overweight, happy, healthy women.

5'3", 115lbs, size 2, age 45. I'm active, not with a daily gym routine, but always moving. Play tennis, ski, rarely just sitting around. Never been a big carb person, lots of veggies and protein in general. When I do eat junk, I make up for it with an extra dose of movement or a few days of fad dieting. Maybe the cabbage soup diet, or juicing or just protein, whatever suits my mood.

I'm 45 with 3 kids and currently 125- not skinny but slim enough considering I've had a beer-heavy winter When I'm stressed I try to move around more instead of grabbing a snack. Everyone in my family is obese with the health problems that go along with it because they don't move around enough and they eat horribly. I don't need to be super-skinny. I just need to be as healthy as I'm capable of being.

How tall are you pp?

5'3" but on the muscular side. My stomach is relatively flat (not compared to a 22 YO, but considering 3 kids + my age).

Well good news OP - you don't eat very well and a few changes will make a huge difference.

Stop with the chips, crackers, ranch dressing, candy for snacks. In general, don't snack.

Stop eating fast food except very special occasions. Not weekly, not monthly...a few times a year.

Intermittent fasting, coffee, exercise, eating real wholesome foods.

As a general rule I allow myself to have "junk food" whenever I want it as long as I make it myself from scratch. I learned this trick from Michael Pollan.

I like that rule.

Is it worth reading Michael Pollan's books? Are there other good tricks like that?

My mother started saying that to me when I was around 10.

Puh-lease.

I'm one of those naturally thin people. 39 years old, 119lbs, 5,3. 2 kids. I look great AND am happy and healthy.

I workout but not a lot. 3 times a week (used to be 4 maybe 5 times but young kids keep you busy). I do eat and drink whatever I want, but I choose to eat pretty healthy. By healthy I mean little processed/fast foods/no soda or artificial crap. I have no problem eating rich/creamy foods. I eat full fat dairy. Portion sizes are on the bigger side. I do eat ice cream a few times a week. I just have a fast metabolism. If it starts to slow down, I'll have to cut out some ice cream or something.

Your body may be small, but you clearly have a big head.

A lot of it is genetics. My mil eats like a horse, mostly carbs and meat, she never works out and she is thin. The young women on her side of the family are all toothpicks.
