It is a fantastic location! We are at Lee and very happy, but I am so glad that SS has this location (it makes them a viable alternative for us if things don't work out with lee's 2017 or 2018 location or if we aren't happy with the new elementary school teachers). |

Congrats SS! What a great location!
-Lee Parent who would have loved to end up at MDS location. |
| Oh well, they are coming off my list. I live in NW and this is just one more Montessori in NE (SS, Lee, South Dakota LAMB, Logan ALL in NE), geez. Congrats to SS families. Sucks for NW EOTP but close to the park families who want Montessori. And my kid is too old for Breakthrough. |
I know. It's about real estate though (where schools can afford to go). I was in NW in a good district and wanted a nontraditional school (Montessori, experiential learning, immersion) and was surprised to find them mostly on the other side of the city. But we ended up moving anyway (where we could afford a 3 bedroom). It is assessable by redline metro (more so than Lee and Lamb though maybe not Logan) |
I feel like the long-term gravitational pull for every charter in the city is eastward (either north or south). Probably just the way it is, considering the cost of land (and restrictions on building) in this city. |
Real estate prices and availability ---> eastern and southern parts of the city. It also largely matches the population / concentrations of families with young children (although not the DCUM universe) |

What a nice building. Wondering why this wasn't taken earlier by other Charters.

| I really wish their was a space in Ward 3 just for a balance. |
It was very expensive. |
how can ss afford it then? Are they planning to rapidly expand like MV? Do they have saved up money from their 2 years with sela (I'm assuming they got a good rate because teh space wasn't great) |
|
I am psyched. Very psyched. I hate the current location.
Re: commute from upper nw eotp, looks the same as my commute now--I go down eastern all the way to Sligo mills now... Will just stay on eastern longer. How is Sargent? Lots of traffic or not? |
| The Shining Stars team is pretty saavy. I think that they have the financing for this in hand. From what i can see (as a parent) this is being handled quite professionally and strategically. Maybe the other suitors didn't present as financially viable as our school. The administration always talks about Shining Stars being a 'small school by design', and growing very slowly. |
You understand how it is hard to see this given the mess from last year. Taylor St, Glover Park, Chillum Pl - all within a month? |
| Good job SS. |
I doubt MV had planned to grow as quickly as it did. |
