Yep. I totally thought it was the plumber, or maybe even the UPS delivery guy. Because delivering packages is a service too!

Well, she is "playing the single mother sympathy card" because she is a single mother of two young children. Regardless of how she got there, it isn't an enviable position for anyone.

frankly, I don't think people lack the ability to see through bullshit. Most of the family probably isn't blinded to her stupidity, but they are trying to make it better for the kids.

I've told my husband that I'd happily take in our niece and nephew, and their parents can live in a cardboard box on the corner. The kids didn't ask to be born to their stupidity. This is why my IL's are stuck with BIL in their house mooching, because they can't help the grandkids without having him there.
