Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
| The schools need to do better about environmental health issues in general. |
The wifi routers used at Bells Mill are made by Aerohive: http://wusa-download.edgesuite.net/video/74311318/74311318_ConsoleAppStill.jpg The datasheet from this series of router is easy to find, and lists the RF power as 20dBm (100mW). http://media.aerohive.com/documents/Aerohive_Datasheet_AP370.pdf These are enterprise routers, which means they have a lot of networking features such as VPN support, strong encryption, etc. It doesn't mean they use more RF power. The standard Verizon home FIOS router in the area is the 'quantum' router, which is a repackaged Netgear AC1750 and also features a 100mW transmit power. A measurement last year of a number of routers (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/32431-is-your-routers-transmit-power-juiced) shows that 100mW isn't as high as many other routers out there that may be in your home (or your neighbors' homes) already. Conclusion? The statement that has been made that these "industrial" routers emit more RF than a home router is false. Myth busted. |
|
Sorry. these access points handle 200 devices. Your home router does not. In a school there are dozens of these in every other room or so.
In your home it might be in the basement. [/img]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qtcOnJHqaYw/VkI6dKWAYMI/AAAAAAAAAzs/ssYDrHgWEaE/s1600/Screen%2BShot%2B2015-11-10%2Bat%2B1.40.09%2BPM.png[img]? Kids are getting exposed to high doses ALL DAY LONG |

Watch this to understand.
It has the school maps with locations of wifi transmitters. This is nothing like your home router situation. |

Schools should not use Wi-Fi because they have a legal duty to safeguard children by preventing the impairment of children’s health and development.
Scientific studies have found that Wi-Fi/2.4GHz wireless signals can increase oxidative stress (which damages cells), damage DNA (which may lead to mutations, cell death or cancers), increase the proliferation of human leukaemia cells, alter human brain activity (and thus likely to affect brain development) and damage male and female fertility. An obvious response to the evidence of damage from RF signals published in the scientific literature, would be to investigate further with biological tests the extent to which Wi-Fi signals are causing biological damage and under what conditions these effects occur. |

Here- Watch father Rodney Palmer tell the story of his child and wifi in school. For two years he and other parents worked to raise this issue after children began getting sick. In this school, wifi was installed and kids got sick. Several kids were wearing 24 hour heart monitors, several had serious cardiac incidents and many kids were getting headaches.
Why? Because the schools have their heels dug in and are ignoring the health issues. Plus- teachers and students in MCPS report these cheap laptops are clunky and waste class time. |
You are simply spewing false information. The number of devices handled has no relationship to the amount of RF emitted by the router. That was demonstrated in the earlier post. There are not "dozens" of routers in every other room. There are probably not even dozens in an entire school. You cannot expect people to believe this type of garbage. When you post information like this that is so blatantly false, you undermine your entire argument. If you can't get basic facts like this correct, why should we expect that anything else you have to say is accurate? |
|
You are not understanding the point
WI-FI is not safe. SCHOOL WI-FI MEANS TRANSMITTERS IN ROOMS WITH CHILDREN That is what the problem is. Try reading. This is not false information. An industrial system means dozens of transmitters in a building. right over the children's heads. Here is the frm Microsoft Canada President talking about HIS CONCERNS. You said " There are not "dozens" of routers in every other room. There are probably not even dozens in an entire school. "
That is FALSE. parents used public information requests and got the school maps that show access points. YES THERE ARE DOZENS-- OVER 80 IN SOME SCHOOLS> These are technically not routers- they are transmitters like routers you have at home. Dont get lost in semantics . MCPS HAS MAPS SHOWING THE LOCATION OF THE ACESS POINTS (SIMILAR TO YOUR HOME ROUTER IN THAT IT EMITS RADIATION CONSTANTLY) Clearly you need to watch the video . http://safetechforschoolsmaryland.blogspot.com |
oh dear. You are 100 Wrong. There are dozens in every school. And there are access points (microwave transmitters) in every other room in some schools in Montgomery County. I suggest you go in yourself and take a look at the access point maps. It is you who need your facts straight before you state false information being that you did not even check into it. we checked. we got the info. its NOT GOOD |
|
LOL are you misinterpreting words?
There are access points located throughout school buildings. Usually one in a room, or every other room. Some rooms have two . Do the math. This is dozens in a school. you can to go central office and look at the locations. They are public information. YES. THERE ARE DOZENS IN SCHOOLS. WE are seeing averages of about 20 to 35 per floor. Schools like Churchill have over 80. Go and count them. Some lucky schools have less. |
The number of devices allowed by a router do not determine strength. You are the same wackadoodle that started the other thread. You've apparently learned how to post videos. I looked at your petition, very few Maryland signers, most were from other states or even countries. To people reading this thread and thinking that they won't get anywhere, be forewarned, if you don't stand up and be heard, they will be able to affect change and possibly change the way that schools operate. There are a lot of nutballs that live in Montgomery County and many people who read one or two statements and think they are experts. |
|
Please refrain from the name calling.
Hopefully people will take the time to hear from experts and not the misinformation you put forward. wifi is not safe. Listen to the experts here. |

Glad to see the petition is getting national and international support.
Here is the link to the petition fyi - https://www.change.org/p/montgomery-county-public-schools-explore-solutions-that-minimize-wireless-radiation-in-the-classrooms?recruiter=22345128&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=autopublish&utm_term=des-lg-share_petition-no_msg&fb_ref=Default The previous poster is misiformed to think there arenot many Montgomery County parents. watch it all here. Perhaps the skeptical poster might post the science showing wifi is safe? If you have such documentation please provide it. The scientific studies showing a "safe level" for children? Where is it? |
