| I knew a high ranked officer in the army who cheated with a contractor in Afghanistan while deployed. It did not affect his career or marriage. I knew an officer who was married to another officer in the airforce. They were stationed at different bases overseas and he cheated with a live in nanny. And lots and lots of similar stories. |
But if the military is 75% men, where do they find women? |
And I know lots of officers who don't cheat. Stop generalizing thousands and thousands of people based on a few people. |
I don't think there's a rule that says if you're in the military you can't cheat with civilians that live where you're stationed. Plenty of woman to choose from really. |
When we lived in Japan, women would hang around the gate just waiting for a date. Hoping that it would lead to 'true love'. Nope, just using the girl until he could get home to his American Wife. And they cover for each other. It's just accepted that cheating happens, so you cover for your buddy. And for the 75% male, who are they cheating with? I knew some guys in the Navy and they had the shittiest things to say about the women they served with. Don't know if it was all true, but not uncommon for military women to sleep with more than one guy. These were enlisted, so there was much fooling around. But still. They called each other Ship Spouses. And everyone covered for everyone else. Not everyone who is in the Military or is a Military Spouse cheats, but it is much higher than the civilian world and much more in the open (meaning buddies, covering for buddies). I don't know anyone who has been disciplined for cheating. I've heard a few times that if the cheating happens up-down the chain of command, there can be repercussions. But other than that, it doesn't affect your career. |
