Please stay out in Reston. We hate to see you terrorized by "street kids."

I live in DC and avoid the zoo the day after Easter. Does my voice count as legitimate?

I'd like to see them import and deputize some Texas cops to handle things by the zoo on Easter Monday.

Because we need more fuckwits like this with weapons in DC?

Ditto. Or just cancel the event, period. It's hard to imagine another DC festival being facilitated by local government if it had a history of gunplay and stabbings, widespread disorderly conduct and vandalism every single year over the past ~15 years. Or if Federal law enforcement has to be called in for backup. This is a, uh, "family" event?

Do you have even know anything about Family Day? You're plain wrong. First of all, it isn't a festival facilitated by "local government" --that is the District of Columbia. It's an official Zoo function supposed rooted in the historic exclusion of African-American damilies from the whites-only event at the White House. Moreover, you seem to be unaware that the National Zoo is part of the Smithsonian, which is a federal instrumentality chartered by Act of Congress, and therefore is itself federal property within the larger confidences of Rock Creek Park. The "National" part could have provided a clue in this regard. Secondly, there are myriad family events at the Zoo on Easter Monday, including the "Easter Panda," an egg hunt, face painting and field games. This ensures that the event is hugely popular with FAMILiES from across the greater metropolitan area, almost all of whom come small children in two for a ionic and daylong outing. Thirdly, there is NO "history" of gunplay, stabbing, widespread disorderly conduct and vandalism every year dating back over the past ~15 years. It is terrible that there have been three highly-publicized incidents in recent years, and generally unruly behavior by teens, but I'll challenge you to provide credible, non-anecdotal evidence of the wodespread criminal behaviors you have described. Fourth, the Zoo Police are effectively federal law enforcement officers because, as noted above, the Zoo is part of the Smithsonian. Setting aside that fact, what Fedeal law enforcement would have have be called for crowd control? FBI, Uniformed Secret Service, Federal Protective Service, ATF, US Capitol Police, US Park Police, Military Police?

It's inexcusable that MPD and Metro Police didn't have proactive plans in place to deal with huge crowds which spilled out onto the street for several years but that seems to have changed for the better last year. Go do you homework and stop making shit up so that you feel better about yourself. Better yet, get off your ass and come visit the Zoo on Easter Monday next year. Relax, enjoy yourself, smile at the happy families who are in attendance. You won't be shot, stabbed, robbed, beaten or scarred for life.

What current "whites only" event are you referring to? Or is that something from years ago? And how are blacks currently being excluded from the Zoo or other Smithsonians to warrant a specific black-oriented event?

You provide the best reason Texas LEOs need to stay in Texas and deal with Texas crime, lest the Oath Keepers have to step in. Or are you proposing restrictions on gun ownership like universal background checks? As for my hateful agenda . . . Either way there's no shortage of links to incidents where Texas LEO have shot unarmed individuals or otherwose abused theor authority and there's no body camera that could brcused to disprove their stories. As for referencing the shooting of the Houston officer, it's clear that you have no qualms about explointing the tragedy of death in your haste to try and make some kind of a point on an anonymous forum intended for residents of DC.

When LEOs have been demonized and targeted nationwide, this is no longer just a “DC” issue.
And, my proposal? Let’s get the scum off the streets and lock them up where they cannot hurt others. If our current gun laws were enforced AND our criminal justice system would honor the sentences imposed, we wouldn’t be dealing with as much of a crime problem.

Are you being purposefully obtuse or should I try and type very slowly to account for your limited higher order thinking? You might want to pick up a dictionary, you know, that big dusty book on your shelf that's never been opened, and look up the meaning of the terms "rooted" and "historic.". There apparently are myriad events which have historic roots. For example, do you know that Americans celebrate Independence Day on July 4 for a reason? The same for Christmas, because Santa comes down your chimney early that morning. I don't have a problem with whites and Dr. Ben Carson being barred from the Zoo on Easter Monday or the Air & Space Museum to permit the commemoration of the death of Ronald McNair on January 28. It's a form of reparations.

Perhaps you can lend your crime reduction expertise to the Trump campaign. And then devote your efforts to getting racist, corrupt amd incompetent cops off the street.

Because we have police to arrest them and try them in court. It is much more effective yelling at some kids who have never read DCUM. We can, however, deal with DCUM fear mongers on DCUM.

Discriminatory behavior toward whites? So you advocate two wrongs as though they would somehow make a right? Apparently you've learned nothing from history. So much for higher-order thinking and being obtuse...

Yikes--the reference to "by them" is deeply concerning.

"Deeply" concerning? What does that even mean?

It's called reality. Let me define 'them' of you. Thug black teens wilding in the streets, firing guns, and making life hell for decent folk trying to enjoy the event.
