Is "Breaking Bad" worth it?

Me too. This is weird, but I'm almost afraid to watch it all over again - it completely consumed me the first time around! I was so emotionally invested in these characters! Even now, I often rehash different scenes in my head. Yes, I'm a little obsessed!

I didn't really like the first episode or two either. Everyone raved about it but I didn't see why. Maybe I'll give it another try.

Glad I searched for this thread before I posted a new one. Watched the first two episodes and am feeling so-so about it. This thread has convinced me to keep watching. Will watch episode 3 tonight - thank you Verizon On demand!

Oh man. After an episode near the end of the run (wont say when), I stopped the binge for a couple of weeks. Just too much to watch. Got myself ready, then binged through the rest. I hear ya!

Definitely worth watching.

Of course. It's a masterpiece.

There will never be another show like it.

Amazing show. Loved it. But it was so dark and I don't want to indulge that too much. So I'm glad it ended and I don't think that I'll rewatch it.

It starts out very similar to many of the independent movies coming out in 2005-2006. They really hit their stride in Season 2 when the whole visual look changes.

That was the point. Can't romanticize who he became.

I still loved him. My heart went out to him because he knew he had ruined everything, but still loved his family so much. I will always love Walter White.

+1000 Also admired his bond with Jesse Pinkman, especially in the season finale.

Whoooaaa...I've never heard anyone say they admired or loved Walt in the end.

Well, now you have. Doesn't mean what he did wasn't so, so wrong. But you can still love a flawed human being - especially one who was so regretful over what he did to his family.

And it's such a testament to the amazing writing on the show that we're still kind of rooting for him, even as he's falling apart.

Is it worth sticking it out a few more episodes?

For the record, I LOVED "Luther" and "Happy Valley"

I did the same thing, thought the first episode wasn't that great, but I stuck it out and I loved it. It is worth it, do 4-5 episodes and if you don't get into it then leave it be.

NP. This thread prompted me to try it and I just finished the second episode.

Oh. Em. Gee.

All of season one is this way. Stick with it.

Okay, this thread drove me to try it and I was surprised to find myself deep in the second season after only a few days of binge watching. Very profound show that's had me thinking about a lot of things in my life.

On the shallow end, I've also been googling "walt's wife is an annoying bitch"

I mean, wow. She's on another plane of annoying. Obviously, it's a plot driver and will play a big role in outcomes. But I've been so annoyed I had to stop the show and go do something else. I'm surprised there hasn't been more online discussion of it.
