Jill Duggar had a c-section

I just saw the article on People.com -- sorry if this was already posted -- did anyone else notice that Derick has braces? Must be recent (don't think I saw them in any other recent photos/videos):

I mean, I didn't want 20, but I did want more than two and my own personal beliefs aren't really compatible with the most common types of BC. It's a tough situation to be in. I want to be alive & well to raise the children I already have, I want to utilize the family planning methods that I can feel good about, and I want to have a normal marriage, but I can't put myself in a situation that's likely to result in me being sliced open over & over again. It's a really tough situation to be in. I haven't found any answers yet. It sounds like none of you on here really care about the delicate balance of being in that situation.

This is when you ask DH to get a vasectomy.

There's no delicate balance. There are the choices you make. If they're not working, choose differently.

No it is hard. I'm in the same boat but have to avoid hormonal bc for medical reasons (it messes with my body and mind in bad ways).

What I find ironic is that the Duggars had a kid in the NICU for months. They used the services of many highly trained nurses with graduate degrees, yet they would decry these women as sinful for going to college and grad school, wearing pants etc. Complete hypocrisy.

Are you guys done with kids yet? If so, you could do a tubal ligation or get your DHs to have a vasectomy. I had a tubal ligation and am completely happy with it, but, obviously, I was also done with having kids.

So you get a paraguard or get sterilized if you really want to avoid pregnancy. I have no sympathy for people who refuse to use modern birth control.

You sound pathetic. Get a life.

I doubt the Duggars believe these educated people are going to hell because they have degrees. If they did think that, they probably wouldn't interact with them whatsoever. They're not Amish.

They are not Amish, but they reject "worldly" beliefs such as e.g. evolution and equal opportunity for women. They believe that gender = destiny and have not prepared any of their children for college education.

http://jezebel.com/5939635/the-duggars-are-an-evil-cult

The Duggars are part of a very specific subculture of the Christian homeschooling world, one dominated by leaders like Doug Phillips of Vision Forum and Bill Gothard of ATI, whose incredibly restrictive teachings and controlling practices have earned them the adjective “cult-like.” These organizations and leaders teach that children must be trained to obey their parents completely, without question, and with a smile; that women are not to have careers and that daughters should be actively discouraged from considering such; that adult daughters must continue to obey their fathers and must marry through parent-controlled courtships; that college attendance is problematic for children of either gender but especially for girls; and that marrying and having large numbers of children is the only godly path available.

Therefore, they decry as sinful e.g. a woman who practices medicine while leaving her children in the care of a nanny or in daycare.

This doesn't apply to the Amish either. Take childbirth for example, they have home births with licensed midwives who are often mainstream women. If they or their baby needed, they'd go to the hospital and accept any necessary interventions. The idea that they'd refuse the help of educated mainstream people is false.

My cousin had 10 C-sections and many of her children are 13-18 months apart.

Why does everyone on that show sound like they have a terrible cold? All the time. I don't get it.
