| Elementary school = $360 per month for one kid. Older kid is now in MS and we don't use aftercare so he = $0 Woo hoo! But, what we used to spend on his aftercare now goes to the college savings account. |
Friends have told me that they spent a few years not even breaking even, but losing money. But, you need to think of it as a long-term investment in your careers. You are continuing to build your experience, gaining more tenure, retirement contributions (if your employer provides them), etc. Sure, one parent could stop working but there are long-term costs to that and you have to consider if you are in a field where it is relatively easy or difficult to get back in. I did SAHM w/ a PT job for 7 yrs. I was lucky that I found it easy to return to a FT job at a similar salary level when I returned to work but I get a lot less leave than employees who've been at the same company a long time and we were only contributing a small amount to my IRA while I was at home. |
| Around $400-$500 a month. I SAH and have a babysitter come over a couple of mornings a week so I can go to appointments and run errands. Have one 8 month old. |
| $4,400 a month. Nanny plus preschool. |
|
$1520 per month, one kid.
I have told my wife repeatedly that we are stopping at one kid. |
| $700 for two kids in elementary aftercare. It does get better, people. |
You can get an illegal for one dollar an hour. |
Thank fucking Christ. |
|
$1,995 in Potomac for one in daycare at a center.
We wanted them spaced two years apart and there's no way! We are putting off a little longer or else we will be living in debt! |
| $2000, three kids (9, 6, 4). |
| $6000 per month (4yo and 7yo): live-in nanny ($4000) and preschool/1st grade private school ($2000, which is about 1/3 of total cost; the rest is covered by employer) |
| $1286 per month for a 4 year old in a center downtown. I think I pay another $40 for her to attend Power Tots once a week while there. |
I hope to God you are trolling. Accounting for employer taxes, and OT, you're not even paying minimum wage. For three kids? You should be ashamed. |
Actually it's exactly minimum wage including over time. Totally legal |
$4000 for a live-in??? Why?? |
