Evaluate this text exchange from someone with whom I had one date:

That's a big NOPE from me.

I still don't understand them.

Wow, I think it's unanimous.

OP here: Okay thanks for verifying ..... Too out there for me. Now if I want to decline further conversation, do I just ignore? Or do I say outright that this is a bad fit?

FWIW, I did not sleep with him, did not kiss good night, although there was a hug, AND I voluntarily split the dinner bill...... It was a nice dinner, pleasant conversation.

Sigh, he looked so good on paper......

After one date where you didn't even kiss, I would just fade (i.e. ignore further texts).

You had just one date and he's already calling you pet names. That's weird.

The "text-speak" from an adult is weird.

The sharing about a colonoscopy is weird.

1) Terrible texting, practically incomprehensible
2) Calling you per names very quickly
3) Asking if you don't want to talk to him.

Was he awkward on the date?

OP here: I'm a doctor too - every so often I get strangers asking "would you look at this rash" kind of thing.
I agree pet names make me uncomfortable - trying too hard to establish false intimacy way too quickly. The question if I don't want to talk to him makes me feel like I'm giving him permission for ________what? Intruding? It doesn't matter, I'm moving on. it took me off guard because he claimed to be an educated businessman. His dad, who is an MD, had privileges in the hospital where I work.

I put a lot of years into school and work so I really avoided serious relationships. I made an off center remark that I wasn't really looking for a relationship anymore and was preparing to be THAT lady with all the cats. Plus I have really green, yellow-green, eyes.

He gets his health care from the VA?

Eww.

The irony in these two lines just kills me.

Lol!

If he gets his health care from the VA, he's probably a military vet. I'm guessing enlisted guy because he sounds kind of dumb. (not that all enlisted guys are dumb, but that usually the officers in your age range have a college degree and a decent IQ.)

If you hadn't said your age, I'd expect these texts to come from some 22-year-old.

Did he crack a lot of jokes in person? Perhaps he was trying to be funny and it just fell flat through text. Still, he is an awkward over sharer.

This. Sounds like he was a pleasant dinner partner. Probably thought that discussing medical procedures would interest you since you are a physcian. Called you catlady because of your cat reference. I don't know, maybe he's just guilty of being awkward by text, especially because he was doing the c prep.
