OP here -- this comment made me pause. For sure.

Do any of you who have one live in a densely populated neighborhood?

We live in northern climate (formerly lived in DC) and we bought a 48" version for inside. My ADHD 8 yr old jumps on it daily. My younger kids also love it. We have an extremely strict one at a time policy, and all of my kids have witnessed my very loud mom voice if they dared test the rule.

It has been a lifesaver during cold weather months, especially for the 8yr old who literally NEEDS to move to calm himself down. I wish I'd had one since he was about 15 months old, but we just got it last year!

Everyone in my neighborhood (close in) has one and no one has ever been injured. Also they tend to use their own since everyone has one.

No broken bones, sprains, etc. They love jumping on it. Have the two of them jumped together? Sure have, but not high jumping, my granddaughter knows very light jumping with her brother, otherwise for most part, it is just one at a time. You CAN teach your child boundaries. They know they are NOT allowed on it without supervision

As for the neighbors. We have a 6 ft fence around our yard. Was it a novelty when the neighborhood kids found out we had it? Sure has. Have any of them asked to jump on it? Sure have. Have any of them jumped on it? Only a select few. Have I turned kids away? Yup, because I do not want that responsibility. Have any of the teen kids jumped our fence to come in the yard? No, because they know better. One jumped my fence to get a soccer ball in our yard, he was quickly put in his place and told under no circumstances was he to jump the fence. Hasnt happened since.

Not sure what our insurance company would say, we had no reason to call and say hey we are putting a trampoline in our yard. Why if we arent allowing anyone other than our family to jump on it. Far as I am concerned, if someone comes into the yard uninvited that is trespassing. They dont belong there to begin with.

+100 and we have had it 10 years

Not a huge fan of trampolines, but most modern trampolines do not have springs. They also have large safety nets. The biggest issue is getting the kids to behave responsibly on them.

Yes, we do. Small-ish lot in Arlington.

Can I come over? Please?

We bought this as a compromise. Haven't set it up yet.

This looks almost more dangerous to me - I can see kids slipping off this onto their ankles all the time! But what do I know...

My neighbors is used like a cage fighting/take-down/wrestling ring for the 8-11 year old boys (and my 6.5yr old--the reigning champ of the ring).

I actually prefer they use it this way than actually jumping and breaking their necks. They also play dodge ball in it.

I am not crazy about them. Have a well-fitting net around it.
