Saw a newborn baby in a bar tonight

Considering you posted this at 8:17, I don't think you could call it "night." Meeting some friends in the evening with a baby is different than bar hopping at midnight

Babies don't care if they're in a bar, a restaurant or church. If there's no smoking and the music's not too loud, who cares? I took my daughter out with me a few times when she was very young, though generally not when it was snowing 'cause I'm paranoid about snow driving.

BIG stink happened in our town when a cop took his son to a sports bar. Cop was arrested. CPS was called. Bar was fined.

Not in DC. My child has been in almost every hip bar downtown, starting from about a week old. I didn't let anyone other than 2 or 3 relatives touch her though until she was six weeks old. Thd cold or snow wouldn't bother me as much as if it were very crowded, but I was very sensitive to germs in the early weeks.

You brought your kid to a place that served food AND liquor. You cannot bring a minor inside ANY establishment that predominately sells liquor. It is illegal in every state.

Don't believe me, bring your child to a pub and see what happens. You will be arrested for child abuse. Go ahead, bring your baby to a BAR. I doubt they let you in.

I have done it, when we lived in Brooklyn and had only one child, multiple times. Our mommy group did happy hours, sometimes at restaurants, sometimes at bars that did not serve food. Everyone was allowed in. No one was arrested. Everything was fine.

I know this is a bit of a tangent, but can we all calm down about newborns in snow? I have a newborn and she has been out with me in some of the gross weather we have had, including today. I even got picked on by the teachers at my 2yo DS's school when I was picking him up. I ask you all the same thing I asked them..."what the hell am I supposed to do?" Because we were out, I have added on coffees, etc. while I am out of the house so I don't lose my sanity. I have also left the house for doctors appointments and baby yoga. She is surviving all of this. I wrap her up, I seek out underground parking. I wear her and cover her puffy coat wrapped body with a blanket. I'd rather not do it...like today...but unless someone else is volunteering to pick up my 2 year old...

Yeah poster you must not get out much cause people are definitely bringing their babies to bars and in Brooklyn where beergardens are a thing. Not to mention here in VA where wineries are huge babies are everywhere!

OMG ! Was the baby drinking?

I flew with my 2.5 week old yo FL and then took her to see a movie where she saw male frontal nudity (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). She's 7 now and is not on the stripper pole yet.

Drinking and standing?? OMG they were drinking and standing?!!
You should've had a drink as well OP.
Also, can you tell me how old I am? Since you apparently just have a knack for knowing these things without asking..

This isn't "snow." It's basically drizzle or flurries.

Um, I do this quite frequently. I probably took her to five places that serve only alcohol last weekend in Philly. After we went to the Ben Franklin Museum, the Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and a kids' play. If was an ugly weekend, not much else to do. Oh, we were not arrested.

Take a deep breath and return with a topic sentence.

+1, me too. One of the first times I took my son out was to a bar, though it was nearly empty and summertime.

That's the difference, then. It's only bad to bring a baby to a bar when there are people there and it's snowing.

Unless there was liquor in his bottle, who cares?

I wouldn't take a young baby out due to flu rsv season and pass him/ her around but I think
A lot of people feel differently - rsv is flying around our community and we've all had it in our house - I'm on the 10th day and still sick - can't imagine a 3 week old catching this
