Love Love Love Muir Glen Salsa. I must also add that Xochitl (so cheel) tortilla chips are the absolute best I've ever had - including restaurants. Delish!

Pace Mild or Medium. Made in New York City.

Noooooooooo.

Yes. It's the best. Not too thick, tastes like Guapos. Which really IS the best, but you can't get it at home.

Always a bitch in the group.

I am always open to new recipes and so thought OP was too. She wasn't. Fine. (BTW, everyone who has tried this salsa loves it so don't knock it till you try it bitchy poster.)

OP here. I put jarred, specifically, because I have relatives in another country asking for American food-type stuff, and thought they'd like some salsa. I need something I can carry with me on a flight. I don't think they'd be too keen on my saying it's "American" as I prepare it in their kitchen. But thanks anyway.

No need for attitude OP. You could have explained that at first.

I'm with the can of beans lady. The jarred salsas are mostly crap and it's relatively easy to put together your own, which tastes much better.

And if it really is for taking overseas, take them the crap. They won't know.

What attitude? I was explaining why I needed jarred salsa recommendations.

Why u no take-a the beano?

So glad we're not the only ones that inhale that stuff. Yes, it's only at Safeway and definitely stock up when it's there b/c it goes fast! Now I know what I'm having for dinner ... anything that goes with it!

You must be the recipe poster, aren't you?

I don't know if it is or not because I just started reading this thread, but whoa! The response to the person who was thoughtful enough to share a simple recipe was really rude. Feel free to flame away, but that kind of sharp response makes me realize the difference between living in the DC area and a smaller town with kind, appreciative people who take time for each other--even strangers.

Anonymous wrote:None, frankly We usu make homemade Salsa Verde (very easy), pico de gallo or guac. For an awesome salsa try:

couple cans of black beans (drained and rinsed)
couple cans of sweet corn (drained and rinsed)
couple of chopped tomatoes
1 chopped white onion
lime juice, garlic and cilantro to taste

Mix all together. Stores for up to a week in a tupperware.

DEEEEELISH!!!!

Thanks, but I was specifically asking for jarred salsas.

Are you havin' a bad day, or are you always this rude and mean-spirited?

The OP was not rude. She explained why she did not need a recipe and the person keeps talking about bringing crap. Thanks for the jarred suggestions. I will try the one recommended at Whole Foods. As far as chip, Whole foods carries these great chips. Don't remember the name but they come in a brown package and are gluten free. They are expensive ($6.00) but are really good.

I like the Senor Field's salsas as well and have often wondered how long they stay good-the jar is pretty large and takes a while to use up (at least in my house). I could ask the folks at WF but that would take too much effort-anyone here have any ideas? How can you tell when it's gone bad? There are no preservatives in it right? Any takers?
