I have a feeling he had the conversation upstairs because I would have tried to talk him into saying we were busy this weekend - and yes I would have done just that. So now I guess I can see why he did it. Now I hope that the nail places are open on Monday as I will be using that day to get out of the house for some alone time!!

What a peach.

I do this when my MIL calls. I just like to be somewhere where it's quiet I guess. I'm not shit talking DH obviously (to his own mother), I don't really know why I do it.

So he said yes without asking you first? That's what's disrespectful to you--not the stepping out of the room for phone calls. Of course, best not to be having that discussion with her overhearing in the background, but DH should be clear that he needs to check the family calendar and get back to her and actually get off the phone and check in with you!

I do this all the time. I know when I talk to my mom that 1) I need to talk a bit more loudly so she can hear, and 2) the conversation can be pretty inane and irritating. I noticed a while ago that my DH seems to get annoyed when I'm on the phone with her in the same room as him, so now I just leave the room when I'm on the phone with her or my sister. I don't think there's anything weird going on.

This just sounds ridiculous. If dh said he was uncomfortable with my talking on the phone with my mom in another room I would think he was crazy.

Seriously. What the hell is wrong with you people? Who hives a sh$t that he leaves the room?
