Yes, thanks for asking. There was noticeable improvement after the first 24 hours of the new medication. I can eat again! |

New poster here. I came down with a pain in my throat -- on one side -- four days ago. A day after I felt that one-sided pain, I got a fever (100.3 ish), my lymph glands were swollen, and I saw white streaks in my tonsils (especially the right side). I did not have a rash. It hurts like hell when I swallow. Saw the dr on Monday, didn't get the rapid strep test but waiting for a culture results that should come in today. Have been on Amox since Monday (just Monday and Tuesday, will continue today) but my fever is still going strong (goes down with ibuprofen, comes back when it wears out to about 99-100-101). I am nervous as to what the heck this is. I also came down with pinkeye while on the Amox. I am very anxious as to why the antibiotics are not working yet  Reading this thread it seems that I may have mono dear lord I hope that is not true!!

| There is a virus going around kind of like this. My whole family had it. All of us were strep negative, low grade fever, terrible sore throat, swollen glands. Took about 5 days to run its course. You might have the same thing if your strep culture comes back negative. |

Maybe you need a different antibiotic? You can call into your nurse's line. |
